Monday, Papers, Please-like The Money Man was revealed, and details on Final Fantasy XIV‘s next expansion were also revealed. Tuesday, Graphite is out now; there was a gameplay showcase of Garfield-Escape from Monday, and details on Sintopia‘s latest update were revealed. Wednesday, Wasteland Gunsmith Sim lets you Fallout 4 the wasteland, and if you’re older than dust, then EverQuest Legends is “out” now. Also, Planet Zoo 2 showcased somewhere that’s just better than anywhere else. Thursday, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope is the first expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. If I do this much news next week, I’ll stab someone.

On to the Epic Games Store, and I want to climb in a bin. A triple bill of mediocrity in the naming department, to the point where after several years of doing this, I’ve only heard of the game offered for mobile. We’ve previously covered Mutazione before during Prime/Amazon/Luna, or whatever in the living Christ that is supposed to be called this week. Released in 2019, Die Gute Fabrik’s Mutazione is self-described by the developer as a “mutant soap opera where small-town gossip meets the supernatural.” Last I checked, that was just called The New Mutants.

On to the first offering for PC and the game most likely to get the “didn’t learn the lesson” award, OTXO. Which I’ve taken to just spelling out the letters for the name because you can’t pronounce it as one. I said it last week: OTXO is what would happen if you didn’t play Hotline Miami 2 and understand that the maps being so large that you can be shot from outside the screenspace is frustrating or gamebreaking. Make the rooms smaller or zoom the camera out; otherwise, it looks and plays stupidly.

From knowing what was going on to wondering why the French have to be weird about their horrorish things, Sol Cesto is something that, just looking at it, I’d have trouble explaining. A tactical Rogue-lite dungeon crawler with a very distinct visual style, I think that is one of its biggest problems on the surface. If you can tell how gameplay works or what you’re doing by looking at the screenshots, sight unseen, then you’re a better man than me Gunga Din. Certainly praised highly, there is something to Sol Cesto, but I’d be hard-pressed to say I’d seek it out beyond Epic’s offering.

All this week, you can pick up OTXO and Sol Cesto on the Epic Games Store for PC, with Mutazione available via the mobile app for iOS and Android. Onto next week, and it is a double bill with at least one thing I think looks beautiful. Beacon Pines is a beautiful storybook adventure with mystery overtones and gorgeous anthropomorphic characters. Then, to spoil the party, we’ve got We Were Here Together, a story-driven co-op adventure in a long-running series with a sci-fi sequel on the way later this year. At least I might be positive for one thing.
