If there is one thing that I am very excited about this year, it is Frontier Developments’ Planet Zoo 2. Don’t get me wrong, I love Planet Coaster 1 and 2, but if there is one thing I am not good at (unless it involves the Ohio Players), it is making roller coasters. However, if my years of watching Steve Irwin are anything to go by, I love animals, and as part of yesterday’s World Conservation Day, Frontier showcased something else I love ahead of Planet Zoo 2‘s release later this year. We got a sneak peek at the Wildlife reserves focused on Scottish Highland scenery.

“Frontier Developments is celebrating World Conservation Day with a closer look at the stunning Scottish Highland Reserve in Planet Zoo 2,” noted the press release. Continuing with, “Showcasing the beauty of this unique environment, the video spotlights the dramatic mountain landscapes, natural waterways, and true-to-life Scottish Highland scenery. This relaxing escape into nature also features the beautiful Red Deer and glimpses of the majestic Golden Eagle in their natural habitats, capturing the critical role of preserving these incredible ecosystems.“
The sneak peek, of course, is a short video showcasing a quiet, simple conservation with a couple of Deer and the Golden Eagle, as noted above. After the anger headache I have from talking about the Highland Clearances, I need something that beautiful and simple. Especially when we’re seeing wildfires ravage through the Cairngorms, where both Red Deer and Golden Eagles are alongside Marten, Wildcats, and more. I also think it is important to highlight these often forgotten about parts of not just relative wildlife but also how close conservation can be to some.
As I say, Planet Zoo 2 is something I’m more excited about than GTA VI simply because I am not making the zoo for people. The list goes: The animals, me, the staff, then the guests. Anyone who has a problem with my zoos can take it up with HR, which is just a bin attached to a paper shredder. We don’t have to wait long to try and make beautiful conservations for the bountiful wildlife that needs to be taken care of, as Planet Zoo 2 releases this October 13th.
Planet Zoo 2 will also be releasing on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox for PC, the Epic Games Store, and of course, Steam. You can pre-order the Standard Edition of Planet Zoo 2 now for £39.99/$49.99/€49.99, or you can pick up the Deluxe Edition for £54.99/$64.99/€64.99. With the Deluxe Edition, you get 6 more animals: Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, Hammerhead Shark, and the Longfin Batfish, alongside “Deluxe animal signs,” and pre-orders get you extra donation bins, a shop, and an interactive Tiger photo wall. Can it hurry up and be October now?!
