Another two months have now passed, which means that it’s time for another Movie Theater Round-Up! While there have been a lot of movies released during these past two months, there are very few that have packed enough of a punch to maintain my attention. There are certainly some films that I have enjoyed seeing and would like a sequel. However, it doesn’t feel right for me to include them in this list due to their overall quality. With all of that, let’s dive into the best films of September & October 2026!

Wildwood

This film has been on my radar since the beginning of summer, and it is absolutely phenomenal! One of the best films of 2026 and could be a top twenty film of all time. Wildwood is the most impressive-looking stop motion film that Laika has ever produced. A riveting and beautiful story of what one would sacrifice for their loved ones, as well as the complexities that life sometimes throws at us. I cannot wait to get a physical copy of this movie, and I will be curious to see what is next for Laika Studios!

Primetime

Switching gears to a completely different film, Primetime is absolutely captivating. Telling a pseudo-retelling of Chris Hansen’s To Catch a Predator television series and the incident that would ultimately end the show, Primetime is a fascinating watch. While there are already questions about the authenticity of the final cut, it is something any true-crime fan will enjoy! Robert Pattinson steals the show every time he is on screen, but Skyler Gisondo does a great job of following the rhythm and commitment that Pattinson brings.

Forgotten Island

One of the most slept on films that delivers in spades, DreamWorks ’ Forgotten Island is a delightful watch! The creators of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish have managed to tug on heartstrings once again with the story of Raissa and Jo as they find a legendary island that Jo’s grandmother described to them. While there, they get stuck on an adventure that will take them across the Forgotten Island and meet an array of unusual characters. Featuring an amazing cast of voice actors and truly wacky characters, Forgotten Island is a film for kids of all ages!

Resident Evil

Switching gears back into more adult-oriented content, a new Resident Evil film arrived in September, and it is doing something that the others have not been able to do: Be good! Zach Cregger has brought his skills honed through Barbarian and Weapons to create a film that gives the same thrill that playing the games does for most players. With all of the competition that it has gone against since release, it is truly something to see still in theaters across the world. This film is not a one-for-one recreation of any games in the series, but rather its own unique tale taking place alongside the events of Resident Evil 2 & 3.

That is all for these two months! There were quite a few other films that came out, but nothing that hooked me like these four. Which ones did you enjoy? Leave your picks in the comments below.
