Nintendo Reveals Details for Pokopia Expansion

I’m very happy to see the success of Pokémon: Pokopia, which was released to positive reviews and reactions across the board. Hopefully this will encourage the Pokémon Company to continue making interesting spin-off titles. In any case, at this year’s summer Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Pokopia would be receiving a well-deserved DLC expansion. This week Nintendo decided to reveal more details regarding this update.

Part one of Pokopia’s DLC pass is titled the Bubbly Basin and will release very soon on August 5th. As the name suggests, this expansion will see the addition of a new underwater area. In addition to discovering new aquatic-themed Pokémon, players can also expect new exclusive cosmetics, an improvement to the surfing ability that allows you to dive and survive underwater, as well as the ability to chef up smoothies for your residents. You can acquire new townsfolk and gather resources here by traversing the darkness of the deep sea. Doing so will provide you with additional tools and abilities for constructing your own underwater town.

In terms of new building mechanics, this DLC will allow players to construct floating structures using the new buoyant blocks. A variety of underwater-themed buildings will also be available for construction to personalize your metropolis, such as the Sharpedo Submarine. Nintendo also teased more about Part Two of the DLC, which will be launching later this year, most likely towards the holiday season.

The theme of this expansion seems to be based around fashion, allowing players to customize their residents, but it is confirmed there will be no new town added. It would be nice if they at least added a new area here to explore, but that is unconfirmed as of now. What is confirmed is a further update of additional Pokémon who will appear alongside the part two expansion. Pokémon: Pokopia is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
