Foretales is free on Epic

Monday, Rogue-lite ARPG, Echoes of Mystralia, got a release date; Grapple Bear is out now; and the second Cathedral game got a new trailer. Tuesday, capitalism-maxing game Critterville Goes Bankrupt, got a trailer; Waterpark Sim is on consoles; and Fading Echo is out now. Wednesday, Birds of War is now on Steam after an annoying delay to the dev pressing “push to Steam,” Echo Weaver got a release date, and Starship Trooper-wannabe Pax Autocratica got an early access release date. Thursday, Norse-themed city builder Thveit got announced, and Blackwood will have a demo… at Gamescom.

Moving on to the Epic Games Store, and it is an easy week for me. This week’s game across PC and mobile is Foretales, a story-driven card game that I swear we covered only a couple of months ago, but it was in fact August 2023. Which is either a sign I am 103 years old or that I am busier than your dad on the corner of Main Street. To say that I have very little to say about Foretales would be accurate because even with nearly three years between picking it up and now, I still haven’t touched it.

Foretales is certainly praised for being an alright card game, though in the same regard there are complaints to be had about how it goes about it. The resource management can mean you’re not really progressing the story with every moment, as well as its occasional repeated voice lines, all with a heavy medieval fantasy theme, which, to the surprise of smut readers and RPG players, not everyone loves as much as you. I don’t think Foretales will make you a convert of fantasy card-battlers, but if you’re already a fan of Gwent, Hand of Fate, or similar titles, it has a good chance of pleasing you.

All this week, you can pick up Foretales on the Epic Games Store for PC as well as mobile until the 30th of July. Moving on to next week, and honestly, I could say anything here, and it would make more sense. What if Hotline Miami 2 was a thing and someone didn’t learn the lessons from it? OTXO is the first of the double bill, and I don’t know how to pronounce it. Hot to Go? If one Rogue-lite isn’t enough, let’s throw in Sol Cesto, because that looks like something easy to describe, apparently. I think I’ll buy a shotgun before next week.
