It seems the curse of September and October continues. In order for everyone and their neighbor’s cow to avoid GTA 6’s (console only, mind you) release, new release dates are frontloaded to September and October. Now, a new contender has fallen victim to this curse, but one I am excited for.

Akupara Games, along with developer Moonlight Kids, has revealed the release date for Echo Weaver, a time-bending Metroidvania. Echo Weaver will be coming to PC and consoles on October 8th. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:

“Moonlight Kids alongside publisher Akupara Games is excited to announce that their time loop metroidvania, Echo Weaver, is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on October 8. The release trailer debuts [on Tuesday], following our Weaver protagonist as they jump, glide, and race through a shattered timeline that threatens to rewind at a moment’s notice.

Echo Weaver is a knowledge-based metroidvania where time is your only currency and secrets are your only upgrades. As the last of the Weavers — a remnant of a ruined society trapped in a glitching time loop – you’ll explore what remains of Provenance, uncover a deep conspiracy, and piece together the one perfect loop that leads to freedom.

Every reset is a chance to go further, and every secret unlocked makes you stronger. The demo alone has drawn praise from Rock Paper Shotgun, Kinda Funny Games, and The Indie Informer, who called it ‘a GOTY contender whenever it hits.’ An updated demo is available on Steam.

The trailer (shown below) has me very intrigued. I’m curious to see if it plays as well as the premise suggests. The question is, will you take up the Glaive and become a Weaver? Let us know what you think in the comments.
