Physical releases are a big conversation right now. From Sony planning to shutter physical releases by 2028 to Nintendo planning to maintain them due to user request, there’s a lot of conversation going on. Now, the developers of Kitaria Fables 2 have announced a physical release for their upcoming action-oriented life-sim.

Among several announcements came the reveal that Kitaria Fables 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 with physical versions. You can also play a Steam Demo today, as part of the Steam Next Fest. Here is what the press release says about Kitaria Fables 2:

“PQube and developers Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts announced that Kitaria Fables 2 will release physically on Nintendo Switch™ 2 and PlayStation® 5! Set to launch in Spring 2027, the wholesome action RPG, packed with farming and crafting, will also be available digitally on PC (via Steam®), Nintendo Switch™ 2, PlayStation® 5 and XBOX Series X|S.

An all-new Overview Trailer was also unveiled, setting the scene for Alice and Dusty’s mission to explore the wilds of the Arkadera Peninsula and rebuild the region’s defences, while also introducing the friendly locals of Whitewall Town who will support them on their adventure.

In Kitaria Fables 2, Royal Army Pathfinder Alice and local guide Dusty journey to the distant Arkadera Peninsula, where they join the Royal Academy Expedition Team in Whitewall Town and set out to chart the wild lands to the north. The newly released Kitaria Fables 2 Demo gives players the chance to experience the beginning of their adventure, allowing them to explore the bustling town, take on quests, master potion-making, forge new equipment and try their hand at farming at the farmstead. Once prepared, they can venture into the wilds to put their combat skills to the test against a wide range of enemies and mini-bosses. The demo is available to play now on Steam® and can be played solo or with a friend with drop-in, drop-out two-player local co-op.

Across the great expanse of the Endless Ocean lies the Arkadera Peninsula, a distant region that once marked the western edge of the Empire. As the years passed and the Empire’s presence began to fade, the outposts that once protected Arkadera’s citizens were gradually reclaimed by nature, leaving behind a small community to take refuge in the walled haven of Whitewall Town.

Eager to prove their skills in the field, ambitious Royal Army ‘Pathfinder’ Alice Skylar and plucky local guide Dusty Tuftkin join up with the Royal Academy Expedition Team on its mission to reopen Whitewall Town’s fabled errand house, explore the wide peninsula, and restore the long-forgotten outposts.

But as the expedition journeys farther into the north, rumours of a mysterious figure deep within the wilderness slowly begin to surface…”

I enjoyed my time with the first Kitaria Fables game, so I’m eager to see what the sequel has in store. We have to wait a little longer until Spring 2027, but hopefully that gives the developers time to polish things out a bit. Either way, I’m excited to see the finished product when Kitaria Fables 2 is released, whether you pick it up physically or digitally.
