Years ago, I played Mages of Mystralia and found myself immersed in its world and spellcrafting mechanics. Now, years later, the developers at Borealys Games are back at it with an even more ambitious project. Echoes of Mystralia is coming to Early Access much sooner than I expected, with a good bit of content on the way.

Echoes of Mystralia will be coming to Early Access on August 11th, a little over 9 years after its predecessor. Echoes of Mystralia puts you in the role of a Watcher, protecting the world from a rift threatening to destroy all you hold dear. Here is what the press release says about the upcoming Early Access release.

Echoes of Mystralia, the spell-crafting Rogue-lite from Canadian independent studio Borealys Games, releases into Steam Early Access on August 11, 2026.  Set in the same universe as Mages of Mystralia (2017), Echoes of Mystralia sees you inhabit the role of a Watcher, charged with protecting the Cycle of Memories and Mystralia itself from a rift that threatens to consume all.

At the core of Echoes of Mystralia lies its deceptively deep spell-crafting system. Saving the World’s Memory before it disappears into the Rift is no easy task, but using the ‘Memories’ you find along the way to craft spells made from elements such as fire, ice, and lightning will certainly help. The game’s intuitive crafting system, where spell positioning dictates output, allows for millions of combinations, letting you iterate and unleash unique magical attacks on anything standing in your way!

Your adventure centres around the Azimuth temple, which acts as a hub between your journeys through Mystralia, allowing you to unlock new skills, adjust your approach to combat, and even seek the wisdom of a millennia-old goddess. Outside of the temple’s safety lies dangerous primordial Guardians to overcome, powerful as-of-yet unseen memories to experiment with, and the occasional friendly face scarred by the trials Mystralia has faced.”

Upon the Early Access launch of Echoes of Mystralia, the game will include not just an expansive Roguelike with action-heavy, lightning-fast, tactical combat. It will also include 3 regions, each with their own boss, as well as 110 memories to mix and match to craft powerful spells. I couldn’t be more excited for the August 11th Early Access launch of Echoes of Mystralia.
