Breathedge is free on the Epic Games Store

Monday, we should have shot the Grim Reaper when we had the chance. Also on Monday, we took a closer look at Nivalis Nights. Tuesday, Highways & Co. was revealed, with Sunken Realms getting a September release. Wednesday, we were all sad enough because of what that raggedy hoe Grim did and has done now three days in a row, then Geoff’s show was as inspiring for gaming as a gunshot to the head is ventilation, while Under Potion Influence got its new trailer. Also, on Geoff’s show, I previewed Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake after getting an invite from Ubisoft.

Moving on to this week on the Epic Games Store, and quite frankly, the world can burn. Not just because Breathedge is set in space, but the aforementioned Grim Reaper business. Put quite simply, Breathedge is Subnautica, Planet Crafter, Icarus, and all those survival-crafty things set in the cold depths of space, otherwise known as that thing Henry Alonso Myers hates. Praised to high heavens, what more do you think I can add other than it is Subnautica in space? Such a keen observation that even Jacksepticeye made it with a Prey comparison.

Meanwhile, as I believe my algorithm would say after calling me a lesbian, this next one is “one for the horse girlies:” Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition. A game about training racing horses that is ported from mobile, so expect crude workarounds of ads and predatory in-app purchases with loot box-like “random” items aimed at an audience of young women with the assumption they don’t know they’re being taken advantage of. Sorry, there are “microtransactions” that are $199.99 on the game’s website. So if you expected me not to cut through the “BS,” you’ll be disappointed in me this week.

I think we’ve had this next Epic Games Store for mobile offering either here or via Prime/Luna. Down in Bermuda is a hidden object point-and-click puzzle game set around the premise of the Bermuda Triangle, which, for those of you young enough, is a superstition that if you fly over or sail through the area, you’ll mysteriously end up at the bottom of the sea, lost forever. It is cute, it is nice, it is highly praised, but all the same, do you want to play it on your phone?

All this week, you can pick up Breathedge, Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition, and Down in Bermuda on the Epic Games Store, the former two on PC with the latter on Android and iOS. Moving on to next week, and it is one of these indie adventure stroke-alongs about how artsy and emotion-filled the writing is for BancyCo’s Alone With You. Sci-fi focused, I certainly think there is a bit of interest from me, and it is praised well enough, but its font for the visual novel aspect isn’t inspiring excitement as a dyslexic.
