Well, we’re here again. It’s surprising how quickly time has passed from Summer Game Fest to Opening Night Live at Gamescom. But now, as of yesterday, a whole slew of announcements revealed more information for the rest of the year and beyond. We’ve got a lot to get to, so let’s get into it.
Starting with the pre-show, we have an announcement for a brand-new title in the Worms franchise. In 2027, Worms: Galactic Tactics will offer the same Worms chaos in a new isometric 3D experience. Worms: Galactic Tactics will be coming to all major console platforms (including Switch 2) as well as PC. Another Worms title was revealed to also be in development.
Following that was a trailer for Train Sim World 7 that was strangely framed like a Mazda commercial. Some philosophical rambling about different options for “whatever drives you”. Dude, it is a game about trains; rails are driving me. Anyway, Train Sim World 7 is coming on September 15th, 2026 to PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
From trains to Roller Coasters, Atari is bringing back Roller Coaster Tycoon for modern audiences… kinda. Roller Coaster Tycoon: Wonderworks is coming to PC Early Access on Steam soon. I’m curious about this one, and did I see a Bubsy mascot? I definitely did.
Next up was the trailer for the global launch of Animo, the creature-collecting open-world Pokémon competitor that won’t absolutely get sued by Nintendo… right? Anyway, Animo is coming to PC and consoles on September 16th, 2026. However, it is also coming to mobile platforms on September 23rd. I’m curious how this launch goes; some of those creatures are… familiar.
We got another interesting trailer for Genigods: Nezha, what looks to be a Character Action game set for a PC and console release. You can wishlist it now, but no release date yet.
The horror genre took the next slot with a trailer for Perceptum, a stylistic game that seems to have you playing an older person whose reality shifts when they close and open their eyes. Perceptum is set to be released in Spring 2027. It is an interesting idea for sure, and it is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The team behind Tinykin showed off their new project next. Acornia: Mirror Worlds seems like an adorable twin-stick shooter that also has shop management and (possibly) cooking elements, split between two worlds. It is set to be released on PC and all major console platforms in 2027.
The creators of Ghostrunner are stepping into Napoleon Bonaparte’s shoes for the next segment. We’ve seen Valor Mortis before, and now it is slated to be released on October 13th, 2026 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
A short trailer for Tankrat revealed a January 15th release date. It also came along with a short bit of gameplay. It isn’t for me, but I know some folks will be into it.
Next up, the team behind the recent Disney Illusion Island and Battletoads games has announced their latest project. You can wishlist Murals now, set to be released in 2027. I’m intrigued by this concept, as it is an isometric action-adventure where fairy tales are all wrong.
The next world premiere was for Humankind II, slated to release in 2027. The stylistic trailer was interesting for this Civilization competitor, but I’ll need to see more.
Next was a world premiere for Elta: Defy all Gods, an action game where you get to travel with a tiny dragon. I’m sold. Elta: Defy all Gods will be released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles in Early 2027. You can wishlist it now.
The next reveal was for a 2-player Co-op adventure called Age Twisters, where your main characters can shift ages to solve a variety of puzzles. Age Twisters will be released across PC and all major consoles in 2027; we just don’t know when exactly. You can wishlist it now, though.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword popped in for a trailer ahead of its September 4th release date. Capcom has expanded the recent demo, offering a new location to explore. You can play the expanded demo now.
Next is something I’m very excited for, Mariachi Legends. After a gorgeous trailer, it was revealed that Mariachi Legends will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles on April 27th, 2027.
After a short interview with the Mariachi Legends developers, we’re finally getting into the main showcase. So, the first announcement from the main show is a departure from Hoyoverse’s usual “anime-styled” work.
Nodus Fall looks to be a fantasy epic that differs from Hoyoverse’s usual work. I’m not sure if it is entirely co-op focused without single-player, but the gameplay did have co-op and (seemingly) Souls-like elements. I have to admit, the idea is interesting, but it probably isn’t for me.
Rainbow Six Tactics was announced next, an X-Com-esque game set in the Rainbow Six world. Admittedly, I’m not super excited about this one, but it doesn’t look too bad. Rainbow Six Tactics will be launched in 2027, though there’s no specific date yet.
Next was a segment for Gears of War E-Day, showcasing its campaign trailer. Gears of War E-Day will be launched as an Xbox exclusive on October 6th, 2026. I’m sure fans have a lot to look forward to with this one.
The next segment was for Ananta, revealed 3 years ago at Gamescom. This open-world Action RPG lets you explore two massive cities as a member of the ACD Team. This trailer showcased the city of Shangzhou and the content you can expect in the city. The flying cars, movement, and environments are gorgeous. I’m incredibly interested in this one. Ananta will be released on January 15th, 2027.
Another curious reveal came next with a new trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall, set to release in September. The trailer was cryptic as usual, but they showed off the digital deluxe edition, which offers 48-hour Early Access ahead of the September 24th release date.
They also showed off a new trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and a Sea of Remnants trailer in a commercial break.
After that break, we dove into something I’ve been excited about for a while, Tides of Annihilation. Unfortunately, other than a pretty trailer and a new voice actor reveal for Gwendolyn, we didn’t get much information. I’d love a release date though.
Alessandro Durando of Unrelated Games came to the stage with the next reveal. Lofsong is a game all about memory and sound. It seems to have vibes of both Journey and the Monument Valley series. You can wishlist it now for PC or Xbox consoles.
Mega Man returns in the next segment, with a new trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override. The new trailer showed off a boss called “Twinkle Girl,” as well as a few interesting combat reveals. Dual Override will be released on PC and all major console platforms in 2027. There will also be a new Pragmata set of skins coming later this year inspired by Mega Man: Dual Override.
Next is a segment that we had a tiny bit of heads up about. Rayman Legends Retold got a new trailer showcasing another of 4 new musical stages. Rayman turned 30 this year, so I’m glad he is getting some love. Excuse me while I dance to the “Macarena” for a minute. Rayman Legends Retold will be released on October 1st, 2026.
The next segment covered an announcement for PUBG DedNet, a new seemingly post-apocalyptic (I think) Battle Royale game. You can join the closed beta now, though I’m not all that impressed.
After a short trailer for Once Human coming to consoles, we got a new trailer for Control Resonant. I’m so excited for Resonant’s September 24th release date I can hardly stand it.
We also got a small trailer for Blood of the Dawnwalker ahead of its September 3rd release date.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros showed off gameplay next in a new trailer. War for Westeros is coming in Early 2027.
Next was a new game from the creators of Darksiders Genesis called Dust: Origins. This sci-fi isometric thriller has you attempting to escape an orbital prison. Survive in a place where everything wants to kill you when Dust: Origins releases…at some point in the future.
Exodus, a Sci-Fi Action RPG, was next from Wizards of the Coast, with a new reveal trailer. We’ve seen Exodus before, but this trailer revealed the character Salt, an “awakened octopus” who is very interesting. Exodus will likely give us the closest thing to proper Mass Effect we’ll ever get since the EA Saudi deal when it launches on April 7th, 2027.
Wizards of the Coast also showed the first bit of gameplay for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons since its announcement at 2025’s Game Awards. Protagonist Katri has made a pact with a powerful Witch Queen (portrayed by Resident Evil Village’s Maggie Robertson), but as she travels the land of Darkon, her new powers must come at a price.
The gameplay segment showcased Katri seeking raw magic, using her patron’s gifts to create platforms, elude enemies, and even use elemental magic to call down rain that she then used to make enemies more susceptible to electricity. Warlock is coming in 2027, and though this was only Alpha footage, it looks interesting. It will be released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
Next was another interesting concept, 1001 Threads of Mizan, a game inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights. 1001 Threads of Mizan doesn’t have a release date, but it is coming to PC and all major platforms. I’m sure we’ll hear more at the Game Awards, or sometime soon.
We also got another trailer for the intriguing detective adventure Silver Palace. We got teasing glimpses of combat, as well as a hint at some of the overarching stories ahead.
Metro 2039 took the stage next, from a development team that has been making the game during the war in Ukraine. Metro 2039 is slated to be released in February 2027, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The gameplay is dark, bleak, and intense. I hope the Metro fans love it.
Snoop Dogg showed up as the next target for Hitman: World of Assassins. I swear the man is everywhere in the gaming space lately. He portrays Cyrus Kane, a new target Agent 47 will have to dispose of. Snoop Dogg’s “The Herbalist” Elusive Target will be available from August 27th until September 26th, 2026.
Next was a segment for Aion 2, the MMO sequel that will be released on October 5th, 2026. I’m not really an MMO person, but I know fans of the original will love this.
Another commercial break included a trailer for Hoyoverse’s new cozy game called Petit Planet, set to release in Winter 2026.
Of course, every Geoff Keighley show needs a musical performance that is relatively unnecessary. This time was a performance of music from Mewgenics. Now, I’m a fan of Edmund McMillen’s games, but this just slows the whole show down. Let’s get back to the games! Though this did come with an announcement that Mewgenics is coming to consoles on September 8th.
From cats to Xenomorphs, we transitioned into the launch trailer for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. While Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC now, it is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29th.
We also got another trailer for 1666: Amsterdam, which is available now in Early Access on PC.
This also came with a trailer for something called Showa American Story, set to release on PC and PlayStation 5. It looked like a mix of Yakuza, Lollipop Chainsaw, and… I’m not sure what else. I’m interested, though.
I also got to see a trailer for something that Keiran is probably going to enjoy in March. Road Kings got a release date for March 11th, 2027. It will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The rhythm game Stage Tour also got a release date trailer. Stage Tour will kickstart your heart on December 10th across all major console platforms.
Sega also revealed the multiplayer mode for their upcoming Crazy Taxi game set to release next year. Go crazy with friends in Crazy Taxi: World Tour in 2027 across all major console platforms. No specified launch date yet, though.
Another blast from the past came with a trailer for the next Turok game. Turok Origins will be released in Spring 2027. It will be coming to PC and all major console platforms.
Then we got a debut reveal from Octopus Panic, a studio filled with Halo and Battlefield devs. Gravhounds is a survival, co-op action game where you gather resources, fight native wildlife, get research, and… play dead? Oh, that’s just too adorable. Gravhounds is coming to Early Access later this year.
Next we get two things that make me very happy: Lego and City Builders. Lego Skylines is exactly what it sounds like, coming to PC and console platforms at some point. You can wishlist it now.
Keeping with the management theme, Transport Fever 3 got a release date teaser as well. It will be released on September 29th, 2026 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
Path of Exile II also revealed its 1.0 release date. It will be launching on PC on December 11th, 2026. The trailer looked pretty cool, and I’ve been waiting for 1.0 for a while, so I might have to check it out.
Now for something else we had a little bit of a heads-up on. Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake has been officially revealed. Ubisoft has breathed new life into one of the greatest strategy games of all time. You can wishlist Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake now. You can also look forward to a preview later today from us about Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake as well.
Next was a segment for Gamescom Cares, spotlighting segments of the gaming community that do good for the world. This year they spotlighted Games Done Quick, who came to put on an event this year at Gamescom as their first ever international event.
Then we returned to a game I was very curious about at The Game Awards. No Law is an open-world action RPG set in the “Cyber Grunge” city of Port Desire. No Law’s newest trailer showcases a myriad of ways (stealthy or otherwise) to take on your problems as “The Gardener”. No Law will be available in 2027 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Another TGA throwback was next, with new footage from Ontos, the next game from Frictional Games. Ontos is coming in 2027 and offers a good level of creepiness with an intriguing tale. It is slated to be released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
The creator of Inscryption also dropped a trailer for his next game. Pony Island 2: Panda Circus will likely be as mind-bending as all of his other games, and I can’t wait. It will be released on April 27th, 2027.
I’m really curious about this next one. Zoopunk is a “Dieselpunk” action RPG starring an animal trio of a Rabbit, Rhino, and Chipmunk. You can wishlist Zoopunk now, and I’m actually intrigued by the character designs and gameplay style. We’ll see how it develops.
Next was another game that hit me in flavortown. A story-based renovation game that Keiran has been interested in for a while called There are no Ghosts at the Grand. Part renovation, part Ghost Hunting, this game seems really interesting. It will be headed to Early Access in December 2026.
Creature collecting games are big this year. Roco Kingdom is an open-world Multiplayer creature-collecting RPG with a closed beta test coming on October 27th.
Tarae the Unbound was next, a short and sweet trailer showing an isometric ARPG. It seems to be in development for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
Naoki Hamaguchi showed up for more reveals about Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the final part in the FFVII Remake trilogy. There was no release date yet, beyond a Spring 2027 window. However, the trailer showed off quite a bit of cool information. The WEAPON enemies have been shown off, as well as a little bit more combat and plot development. There is a character conspicuously missing, however.
Last but most certainly not least, we got a bit of information about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s “Songs of the Past” expansion. First, they revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, a free enhanced edition for all current owners with a variety of enhancements and upgrades. The Witcher 3 Remastered will be available on September 29th, 2026.
The “Songs of the Past” Expansion will be available next year (no full release announced yet). It will offer a variety of content, including an intriguing new story and region. Additionally, with this announcement, both of the previous expansions (“Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine”) are now free for people who own the base game.
With that, the Opening Night Live showcase came to an end. Admittedly, it was a little underwhelming, but I think the gaming industry is held in a bit of a weird spot right now with GTA VI in the way. So, hopefully The Game Awards will have better showings available. Check out the full show below, including the pre-show.
