Sometimes I wonder why a press release is even needed for certain things, and other times I don’t care because I get to talk about something I’m excited about. We’re just over a month away from the release of ION LANDS and 505 Games’ Nivalis Nights. Indeed, finally! I’ve been waiting on this mix of cyberpunk life sim with pretty voxel for years now, and over the last few weeks the studio and publisher have shared some videos highlighting the upcoming release. Here is what the press release notes:

“Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a futuristic city? Leading publisher 505 Games and developer ION LANDS have recently shared three videos that do just that. As part of their Developer Q&A Series to prepare players for their new life in the neon-drenched city ahead of [Nivalis Nights]’s September 29 launch on Steam, ION LANDS provides a look at [Nivalis Nights], what players can do, and how they can get around the city by the ocean.“
Alone, the trailers have been only short glimpses of the upcoming release of Nivalis Nights rather than proper, lengthy looks through the city and at the mechanics. The first video focuses on what the name is, with the press release noting: “Starting a new life in a bustling city that stretches from the ocean to the sky may seem daunting at first, but endless opportunities are at your fingertips. Meet the colourful citizens of Nivalis, uncover their stories, and build new connections as you find your place in the city and make the most of everything it has to offer.“
The second video highlights what you’ll be doing in the narrative life sim with a murderer on the loose: “A city with countless possibilities offers players plenty of things to do as they move through each day. Learn how to start and grow your own business, manage menus and ingredients as your empire expands, and make your home a place to call your own by decorating to your heart[‘]s content.“
While the third video highlights the travel throughout Nivalis Nights. Which, if you’ve already forgotten, is a game in the same universe as ION LANDS’ prior title Cloudpunk: “Exploring each of the city’s four districts might seem like a challenge in a bustling city, but Nivalis’ taxi, metro, make getting from point a to point b a snap, while a more leisurely boat ride through its waters invites players to experience this cyberpunk world on a whole new level.”
The press release concludes with: “Combining everything that draws you into the cozy life sims you love with a deep cyberpunk sim, Nivalis Nights, this cyberpunk slice-of-life sim, returns to the eponymous city from Cloudpunk. Make a mark in this starry, neon-lit future and build a life for yourself in the bustling futuristic city, expanding from a humble noodle stand or nightclub into a booming enterprise. Explore the city’s crowded waterfront districts and hidden alleyways, meet its eclectic citizens, or simply enjoy a quiet life of fishing and home decorating in your home far above the clouds.”
As said above, there is a little over a month until the release of Nivalis Nights on September 29th. Nivalis Nights will be releasing on Steam first and foremost, with a release on the Epic Games Store at a later date, which is noted to be announced soon. I keep repeating myself, but I am very excited about Nivalis Nights, to the point it was part of our site-wide most wanted games of 2025, and before the name change in June. To echo the sentiment of others, September 29th can’t come soon enough.
