On June 30, 2026, Nintendo hosted a Splatoon Raiders Nintendo Direct for the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. A single-player experience is a big shift for the Splatoon franchise, so a deeper look at what to expect should help players determine if they plan to grab this game or not. We’ve got your full Splatoon Raiders Nintendo Direct rundown here if you want to catch up on all the latest updates.

Firstly, we got a better look at the environments and enemies we’ll encounter in Splatoon Raiders. The Spirhalite Islands have a variety of different terrains and ecosystems to explore, including crystal mines, dens, and facilities that lead to underground exploration. Lesser Salmonids, Boss Salmonids, and Seasoned Salmonids will be our primary forms of foes in the game, ranging from easy-to-conquer bad guys to major obstacles to overcome. As you do, you’ll level up and not only gain skills as a fighter, but you’ll also gain access to a variety of weapons and items.

With more than 100 weapon variations to discover, the Direct showed off a better look at how the game will offer the variety the mainline franchise provides in terms of attack options. Three types of tanks, Speed, Power, and Tactical, can also be equipped with items called Gadgets that serve as a loadout for your Inkling. Players will collect gadget parts during island excursions and add them to available slots to upgrade their gadgets in several ways, like increased damage, fire rate, duration, or adding effects like ink explosions or knockback gas, and more.

Amiibo figures were confirmed to offer new, unique outfits in-game. We also learned the game will feature three difficulty options. Splatoon Raiders players eager to try a casual experience can opt for Tourist, with Raider offering a standard experience, and Survivalist cranking up the difficulty for challenge-seekers and Splatoon veterans.

Most interestingly to me, I had no idea there would be a co-op option. The Direct revealed that players can go it alone or team up with up to three other players online or via local wireless to hunt for treasure and progress through the story together.

If you’re eager to play the game but can’t wait, there will be a Splatfest themed around Splatoon Raiders, coming to the Splatoon 3 game starting July 10 at 5 p.m. PT through July 12 at 5 p.m. PT. There will also be Joy-Con 2 controllers released for the game, launching the same day.
