It’s easy to imagine we’ll all have plenty of games to play in October. With major releases on Xbox, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5, it’s going to be a jam-packed month. When a schedule is this full of top-tier titles, some sleeper picks can go by the wayside. Well, we’re not going to let that happen. Don’t let a busy month of gaming get in the way of keeping an eye on these indie games releasing in October 2026 that you shouldn’t overlook.

Dancing with Ghosts – PC (Early Access) – October 8

Dancing with Ghosts is a narrative adventure about grief with a really lovely art style. Entering Early Access via Steam on October 8th, the game follows grieving teenager Mai as she befriends Pim, a cheerful little ghost who needs Mai’s good karma to recover her lost memories. Play as both Mai and Pim as they help their neighbors around the village in an under-10-hour experience that I’ll be jumping into as soon as possible.

Allogloom – PC – October 13

I didn’t know I was craving a macabre point-and-click adventure game until seeing the trailer for Allogloom. Solo developer Galactic Ghosty brings this title to Steam on October 13th, where players will work to discover what is abducting the residents of Gruesome Grove. This feels right at home in October’s gloomy, spooky atmosphere. As the main character, Nora, discovers that the place she grew up in is gone, she’ll do what she can to bring it back, even if that means breaking every rule standing in her way. From the color palette to the hand-drawn art style, this game has my name and my gaming tastes all over it.

Pixel Washer – PC – October 15

Some games sell themselves. For example, Pixel Washer had me as a day-one purchase when they explained that you’ll play as a power-washing piggy named Pigxel. Sign me up! Clean dirty sprites across vibrant pixel art landscapes, upgrade your washer, uncover hidden secrets, and relax at your own pace. The cozy zen vibes are strong, as you can see from the trailer above. Acclaim is onto something here, especially with the Powerwash Simulator sickos proving that, sometimes, cleaning can be fun. Just not in real life.

Danchi Days – PC – October 29, 2026

One look at Danchi Days in the trailer above and it’s not surprising that the game is heavily inspired by the Game Boy Advance era and Y2K art. Danchi Days is a slice-of-life adventure with a comedic-yet-bittersweet story set in a quaint Japanese neighborhood! Play as 12-year-old Hoshino, revive a summer festival, reconnect with neighbors, and uncover truths about her grandma, who lives with dementia. There are 151 people to invite as you look to bring the festival back to its former glory. Recruiting them requires knowing their quirks and desires, and who knows, that info might be helpful for Hoshino herself.
