Say what you will about the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but its massive popularity isn’t an accident. While the franchise’s annualization began to diminish its impact, certain games still stand as exemplary experiences in the action-adventure and stealth genres. One of the most popular games in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, is still discovered by new folks every year, some 10 years after its launch. Knowing its adoration, Ubisoft has finally announced a release date for its highly anticipated remaster of the game, which will be released this summer. Here’s what we know about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced!

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is officially releasing this July, according to an announcement from Ubisoft. This summer, players will return to the Caribbean to live the pirate life as the captain of the Jackdaw. Take on the role of Edward Kenway on his journey from privateer to skilled Assassin and his fight against the Templars. You’ll relive Edward’s story, but in a world that‘s more immersive and realistic than ever before, thanks to a fresh coat of paint with 2026 technology. A decade after the game’s initial launch, it’s well overdue for this fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed game to get a reimagining.

Graphical upgrades include a complete engine rebuild on the latest evolution of Ubisoft’s proprietary Anvil engine, used in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The game will also feature ray-traced lighting, 60 FPS on consoles, new graphical assets, and fully modernized water rendering. Beyond visuals, you’ll have the opportunity to locate and assign new officers, tackle new missions, and even enjoy new shanties to sing as you sail the seas. It feels like, from the initial announcement, that there are plenty of improvements here to warrant a replay.

You can read the full list of updates here on the Ubisoft blog. Pre-orders are now up, including the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Both come with a pre-order bonus: a digital download of the Blackbeard Crimson pack, including a pistol and sword, each of which provides a unique perk, as well as a costume for Edward. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch July 9 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
