I’ve always enjoyed SNK’s characters and world, but I have not had time to try out the latest entry in the Fatal Fury series yet. However, last week SNK gave me a good reason to start with the announcement of a big new update for Fatal Fury: City of Wolves, as well as a nice price drop to hopefully capture more players.

The latest DLC to City of Wolves coincided with the game’s one-year launch anniversary, adding Wolfgang Krauser von Stroheim to the roster on April 24th. The new stage, Kaiser Hall, accompanies this character. However, by far the most exciting aspect for me personally is the brand-new story mode Wolves’ Destiny, which is free to download. Featuring full voice acting, this story centers around Krauser and how he made his return to South Town. This mode, on top of the Arcade mode and Episodes of South Town story mode, gives players a solid amount of single-player content to invest themselves in while improving at the core gameplay. Furthermore, the character Kain Heinlein, who features prominently in the new story mode, will receive a new costume.

Additional content coming for free includes a complete overhaul of the menu UI, which features three simple modes. Battle Coliseum is the main hub for online ranked play, offline multiplayer, and training modes. Menu Hub features customization and settings options. Lastly, South Town Chronicles is where players can access single-player content like story modes. The Ring Out feature will return exclusively in the new stage, Second South Central.

The last piece of news here is the updated price drop. The City of Wolves base game will now retail for $19.99, while the season 1 and 2 passes can be purchased separately for $14.99 and $19.99, respectively. Each season pass adds five fighters to the roster for a total of ten, with two more fighters yet to be revealed for season 2. The Legend Edition of the game, which features both DLC passes, retails for $49.99 but is currently on sale on Steam for $29.99. This is a fantastic deal overall, no matter your budget.
