The sun saw fit to rise once more on this mortal coil we call Earth, so of course, there was a showcase that was about as advertised as a nun farting in a lift (“elevator” for you Americans). Revealed only several weeks ago (might have been years, given recent events), Unrealiable Narrators revealed The Caribou Trail. A story-driven adventure set during the Gallipoli campaign of World War I, as Newfoundlanders are sent to do what the British crown can’t be bothered to do: Die.

Announced during the Galaxies Gaming Showcase (yeah, I didn’t know about it either), Unreliable Narrators’ upcoming title, The Caribou Trail, is set to release on May 14th. Here is what the press release says about the game and the setting:

“Set during the Gallipoli campaign of World War I, The Caribou Trail is a first-person narrative experience focused on survival, memory, and the fragile bonds formed in the trenches. Players follow Fisher, a young fisherman from Newfoundland, as he navigates an unfamiliar war far from home, alongside those he calls brothers.” The announcement was also joined by a trailer showcasing the horrors you’ll face on the frontlines against the Ottoman Empire.

The Caribou Trail is set to release on May 14th for PS5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. There is no word on when or even if there will be an Xbox Series X|S release at the time of writing, so don’t expect that in short order. I am excited about The Caribou Trail and its setting, though I am one of the few excited about history and things like 11-11 Memories Retold or They Shall Not Grow Old, because I am weird like that.
