This week, the Battlefield 6 development team unveiled the latest updates that players can expect in the coming year. This roadmap not only includes content for the main game but also Battlefield REDSEC the free-to-play Battle Royale mode built within the games engine. This roadmap is quite extensive and includes details for not only the latest season but also seasons 4 and 5. Season 3 will see the immediate addition of a new map, Railway to Golmud, with a second map called Cairo Bazaar launching later.
Railway to Golmud is stated by the team to be the largest map ever seen in the Battlefield series, while the Cairo Bazaar is a reimagined version of the Grand Bazaar map from Battlefield 3. Season 3 will also mark the beginning of ranked play to Battlefield REDSEC, an important milestone to the game for sure, as well as Battle Royale solo queues. Competitive-minded players can also expect the return of the open and elite competitive series tournaments later this year.

Season 4 will launch in July and will add naval warfare to both REDSEC and Battlefield 6. Alongside this feature is a new dedicated naval map called Tsuru Reef, as well as Wake Island, a map that originally debuted in the first game, Battlefield 1942. Both maps will feature new operational naval vehicles and aircraft carriers fully loaded with a variety of planes to take battles to the sky as well.
The team has also promised to roll out consistent quality-of-life features, balance adjustments, and new game modes. Already confirmed are things like leaderboards, spectator mode, proximity chat, custom lobbies, and a dedicated server browser, which will allow for easier hosting of custom games. Finally, Platoons will also make a return and will allow players to easily group up with friends during multiplayer while offering some customization options.

Season 5 is planned to launch in the Fall. This season will introduce three more maps, though there are no details about them at this time. All three seasons will also see the addition of new weapons, gadgets, and vehicles, which will be announced closer to release. Details can be found on the official website. Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
