I’ve been waiting to discuss the latest entry in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series until there has been some concrete information on the game besides brief glimpses into the story mode. This week, Bandai Namco has finally revealed the first bit of gameplay for the action RPG, so let’s break it down.
Xenoverse 3 will take place primarily within West City in the far future during Age 1000 and will see players take on the role of a student at the university. There, they will join the ranks of the Great Saiya Squad. As has been the standard for the series, this game will also feature a new cast of original characters designed by the late Akira Toriyama himself, of course.

However, by far the best part of this reveal is the glimpse at the new battle mechanics coming to Xenoverse 3. First is Soul Assist, which (as the name implies) will allow you to call upon another character from the series history, like Piccolo or Vegeta, to unleash their signature move. In contrast, Soul Switch allows you to take on that character’s power directly through a short transformation, which lets you play as them for a time mid-battle.
In addition to this trailer, Bandai Namco has also revealed that Xenoverse 3 will be launching a road tour this July. During these tour events, the game will be available for hands-on public play. Those who participate in these events will also have the chance to receive special items, though no specifics have been given regarding them at this time. The road tour will last for the remainder of this year before the planned launch in 2027. The tour will begin in Houston, Texas, at Dream Con from July 10-12, before concluding at the Del Amo Mall in Carson, California, on December 20th. You can find the full list of stops on Bandai Namco’s official website. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will release in 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
