When I woke up at 10:30 yesterday morning, I think I was like the rest of Scotland, saying, “ahh, I feel like a burst baw!” The world’s eyes are on Canada, the US, and Mexico (CUM for short?) for the World Cup, with attention now first shifting to Group H, Spain vs Cabo Verde, in Atlanta. However, on Steam, there is another football focus right now as the World Cup group stages continue with Football Fiesta, presented by Secret Mode.

Presented by Secret Mode, the independent UK games publisher behind the triple BAFTA-winning Still Wakes the Deep, the Football Fiesta sale on Steam features a huge range of beautiful games… all about the beautiful game,” notes the press release. So what games are featured, and what are the percentages of discounts? We’ll start off big with EA SPORTS FC 26 being 80% off (store link), but we know why that is. We also know why Football Manager 26 is 50% off (store link). Both games are yearly releases with the “reasonable” expectation that they won’t be on sale a year or six months from now.

There are other fantastic and interesting games on sale though, including Hubi’s early access Football Academy Manager at 25% off. If you want something a bit more… cheeky, there is Orge Tales’ Football Streaker Simulator at 50% off, a tradition I don’t think we’ll see this year, as you’ll be shot if you do that in the US. Don’t lie, that isn’t a political comment, that’s a fact. Despelote is also 50% off (store link), as is Sloclap’s Rematch, and BATOVI Games’ 2.5 HD-ish arcade football games, Charrua Soccer and Pixel Cup Soccer – Ultimate Edition.

If you’re looking for football manager stripped down to what it was originally, Kevin Toms’ Kevin Toms Football Star Manager is 40% off. Another retro offering is Martyn Bossett’s Tiny Football, 60% off. Something a bit more arcade, RPG-adjacent is Bang Average Football – Play, Manage, Create, which is 33% off. If you’re looking for a full RPG experience with a “hint” of anime, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of the New Champions is 88% off ahead of Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters releasing later in August.

Though speaking of upcoming games, there are plenty to highlight. Footballogy is a football management game that focuses a bit more on scouting and playing around in that area. Foosball Manager, though, is a bit more focused on showing the game being played… on a foosball table. Fear FA 98 is a horror arcade game where you “use your enemies’ heads as the ball, use knives, and summon demons!” An average weekend in Essex. If you want more Rocket League but with guns and anime, then The Koala Republic’s Dronaldo Drone Football League might interest you.

However, the one that I am most excited about is Mix and Jam’s Eye of the Match, a V.A.R simulator. For the sake of my editor, it is the video assistant that tries to keep the spirit of the game true to the letter of the law. For the sake of many football fans, “it’s that thing ruining the game, innit?” I think after wanting to drag Willie Collum over the coals for being a two-faced, self-interested… person, and many other words I can’t say here, I want to see how hard it is to stick to the letter of the law when Eye of the Match releases.

Of course, that’s not all the games on sale, and I haven’t even mentioned my favorite from this year. NUTMEG! A Nostalgic Deckbuilding Football Manager is on sale for 40% off (store link) and is worth every single penny. Now with the Egg Cup, allowing you to also compete in the league cup as well as loads of interesting additions. One of my favorite games of the year and the reason I took Tranmere to the Premier League and the Champions League in FM26.

The Football Fiesta celebrations will last “for two weeks from 6 PM, Thursday 11 June.” So until the 25th of June, basically, and that’s the start of the Steam Summer Sale, if I am correct. The Football Fiesta is lots of good deals on lots of football all around, so there is no excuse not to get excited about football right now. Unless you’re weird and call it “soccer.”
