Well, we’re here folks! It’s time for the 2026 Summer Game Fest Showcase. The team here at Phenixx Gaming has had a lot of ideas and predictions about what we might see, but here is the real rundown of the main showcase. We’ve got a lot to get to, so let’s get started.
The showcase started with a trailer for Resident Evil: Veronica. Slated to come in 2027 for PC and all major platforms, it seems we’re finally getting that Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake. The showcase addressed that it is a reimagining of the game and will be modernized for today’s players.
Studio MDHR popped in with a breaking news alert from a rather handsome puppet newscaster. A new Cuphead game is in the works! In addition to that announcement (with no ETA yet), they also revealed Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a retro-styled Cuphead game for PC and major platforms. We don’t have release dates or windows for either, but it was a cool announcement anyway.
Following that, Alien Isolation 2 showed off a stylized and creepy new trailer. A lot of folks have waited for this announcement for a while, so I’m eager to see how it turns out. It will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox platforms. This time, the game will be set on an unsuspecting colony world, both in the colony and the wilderness around it. More will be shared at a later date.
Next up, genDesign showcased Project Robot, Fumito Ueda’s next game. GenAtlas is the name of what I can only describe as “big robot and small cyborg go on adventures” in my notes. GenAtlas is coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. We don’t have a release window yet.
Blood Message was revealed next, a single-player action-adventure game that looks really interesting. As a messenger, you embark on an eastward journey with your son. We’ve seen a little bit of this previously. It looks to be a story across two protagonists, the father and his son, over time. We don’t have any kind of release yet, but it looks interesting so far.
Stranger Than Heaven popped up from RGG Studio next. After the controversy with Yakuza Kiwami 3 and the voice actor mess, it’s interesting to see them try to regain some fan goodwill. The trailer showed off a lot of famous faces and names, including Snoop Dogg and Tupac. Stranger Than Heaven will be released on January 15th, 2027. Snoop himself showed up for a small bit of the segment as well.
Apparently, Tupac’s estate signed off on his inclusion and worked with Snoop Dogg and his son on this project. Snoop also teased a reveal “in the next couple of months” for a project via his Death Row Games label.
The next segment was for HAEX, a first-person action-adventure shooter where players move through a procedurally generated world. As they explore through mega-structures, they also take on grotesque monsters and face mysterious automatons. You can wishlist HAEX now on Steam and Epic ahead of a 2027 release date. I’m not exactly impressed.
Dead By Daylight dropped a teaser for its 10th anniversary next, showcasing what seems like a bloody birthday party on June 14th, 2026. Fans will likely have a lot to enjoy in the game’s grotesque event. This also led to a commercial for Mortal Shell II’s Open Beta, which is now live.
After the commercial break, Platinum Games dropped by for a surprise. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin had previously been announced, but the quick announcement seems to show that it is more readily in the works. I love that Platinum Games is involved, though; that means the action should be wild.
Ben Starr showed up on stage next, revealing Fortnite’s new (now launched) season, titled “Runners.” Considering the Shattered Event has come and gone, let’s hope everyone enjoyed what led up to the new season over the weekend.
Bandai Namco also dropped in for an announcement about Gundam: Rogue Orbit. This new 3rd-person shooter is coming in 2027. We don’t know much more about it yet, but the teaser was pretty interesting.
Next up was a co-op physics game about two geese trying to carry and safeguard their egg. An Eggstremely Hard Game is coming on July 24th, 2026, for up to 4 players on Steam.
Then, a new action game from developers known from Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward popped up. Developer That’s No Moon has created CrossFire, a new story-driven shooter that actually looks pretty interesting. It is slated for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. You can wishlist it now.
Control Resonant popped up again, ahead of its September 24th, 2026, release date. The Oldest House has fallen, and the city of Manhattan has been overwhelmed by resonance and horrific creatures. I am so excited about this, I can hardly contain it. That is definitely going to be my birthday gift to myself.
Guild Wars 3 was announced next. As someone who isn’t all that fond of MMOs, this isn’t super exciting. However, I know a lot of folks who are going to love it. The trailer was gorgeous, and it seems like traversal is going to be really interesting. Guild Wars 3 will be going into Beta in Fall 2027 and will be coming to PC and PlayStation 5.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer headlined the next segment, ahead of its October release. The new trailer showcased the story of the upcoming Star Wars racing game, along with some high-octane racing. Galactic Racer is coming to PC and consoles on October 6th, 2026.
The next segment was for End of Abyss, a horror-shooter that looked very atmospheric and interesting. It looks as though you play some sort of researcher sent to contain and destroy some kind of monstrous plague. End of Abyss will be released on October 1st, 2026, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
Last Harbor showed a trailer next, mixing casual survival and fishing with mini-games, zombies, and post-apocalyptic scavenging. I have to admit, it looks cool, but it isn’t really my thing. Last Harbor is coming to PC, and you can wishlist it now.
A surprise reveal of Virtua Fighter: Crossroads came next. The trailer showcased what seemed to be not just standard 1v1 fighting, but beat-em-up and exploration segments as well. Virtua Fighter: Crossroads is coming in 2027.
Runescape Dragonwilds showed up again after a short presence at the Latin American Games Showcase. Dragonwilds will be released on September 15th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can play it now in Early Access on Steam.
Next came another commercial break, including a few Switch 2 games coming in the next few months, such as The Adventures of Elliot, and Orbitals. The commercial break also included Grounded 2’s August 11th update, as well as Mafia: The Old Country’s “Man of Honor” expansion coming on August 14th.
The original creator of Assassin’s Creed revealed his new game next. Panache Digital Games revealed 1666 Amsterdam, a seemingly witchy action game. I’ll admit I am very intrigued. I want more than just a stylistic cinematic, though. Show me some gameplay! Luckily for me, the prologue is available now on Steam and Epic, and you can wishlist it on Steam as well ahead of its Early Access launch later this year.
Unfortunately, the Saw franchise showed up next. Saw: Genesis is an upcoming 3v1 multiplayer horror game from Bloober Team and Lionsgate. You can sign up for the closed alpha now. I couldn’t be less interested if I tried.
Lords of the Fallen II popped up again, and I swear we’ve seen this game at like 5 showcases by now. It is coming this fall to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. Hopefully we’ll get a release date soon so I can stop having to write about it.
Star Wars returned to the stage with Star Wars: Zero Company, for which we saw a teaser during the Game Awards. It seems like Anakin Skywalker will pop up in the game pre-Vader (spoiler), which is interesting. Also, Zero Company will be available on August 27th, 2026.
Another cool reveal was a new trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, which seems like it might also take place partially in the present day. The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released on September 3rd, and I’m very interested in checking it out. September is gonna be busy, it seems.
The developers of Among Us have been working on something new as well. Among Us Story: On Guard seems to be a detective game set in the world of Among Us. You can wishlist it now. They also showed off a little of the Among Us TV series, which is streaming now on Paramount Plus.
007 First Light is getting a new story mission, including the return of Lenny Kravitz as Bawma. This led to another commercial break, including a release of Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2.
After the break, we got a first look at Monster Hunter Wilds’ upcoming expansion. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance offers new monsters, new weapons, and more. Ascendance will be “a massive expansion” coming in 2027.
After that, Aurogon Shanghai revealed a gameplay trailer of Swords of Legends. I have to admit, the end of the boss fight was pretty slick, adding a sort of magic trick into the gameplay. Swords of Legends is coming soon to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
A new Hot Wheels racing game is coming! Race through Wheelswood in the biggest Hot Wheels game yet. Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is being released on September 24th, 2026, on PC and all major console platforms. I’m actually kinda interested in that one.
TMNT, and Avatar: The Last Airbender are coming to Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. That’s not all! In 2027, there will be a Godzilla as well as an Evangelion crossover. Additionally, Sega revealed Sonic Pico Park, a new Indie take on Pico Park with Sonic characters.
Attack on Titan is getting a new game as well. Koei Tecmo is developing Attack on Titan 3, coming to PC and all major consoles. More details will be coming on July 1st. It’d be nice to see some other anime get the video game treatment, though.
Maverick Games revealed Clutch, a new cinematic racing game. Clutch will be released in Spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. It will cover a story that crosses both professional and underground racing circuits. It’s a cool idea, but I’m curious to see how it plays.
The next segment was for Chronicles: Medieval. If you like RTS gameplay that lets you get deep into the fight as your commander, Chronicles: Medieval will hit the spot, I think. The trailer was stylish, but only time will tell if the game has as much substance as style. You can wishlist it now, ahead of its Early Access period later this year.
Sea of Remnants came back to the stage after a reveal during either Gamescom or The Game Awards from 2025. You can pre-register it now. The music video trailer was flashy, but I still wanna see some actual gameplay with substance.
Another commercial break followed, leading to a trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2. After 8 years, we’re finally getting some details on the sequel to the highly rated narrative game, or a short trailer at least. The Wolf Among Us 2 is coming in 2027. In the meantime, The Wolf Among Us Remastered will be released during the Holiday 2026 release window.
The next announcement was pretty cool, amping things up after that slight lull. Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is the follow-up to Stellar Blade and is now in active development. I’m excited to see more.
Street Fighter 6 popped up to reveal its 4th year of content. Fighters Yasmine, Arjun, and Bosch will be joining the fight. Tifa will also be joining Street Fighter 6, which I suppose is as close to an Ehrgeiz Remaster (or sequel) that I’ll ever get.
The final reveal totally made up for it, though. The final piece of the Remake Trilogy for Final Fantasy VII has been revealed! Final Fantasy VII: Revelation (it had to be an R-word, of course) is coming simultaneously to all major platforms at launch. After an absolutely incredible extended trailer, Yamaguchi-san revealed that Revelation will be coming to all platforms in the spring of 2027. I truly cannot wait, though after the end of the Revelation trailer, I noticed someone conspicuously missing.
Regardless, that was the end of the presentation. This year’s Summer Game Fest was solid, and I can’t wait to play a lot of the games that were shown. Check out the video below to watch the whole showcase.
