Right, let’s have a look at the most recent press release the pneumatic tube deposited onto my desk from on high: “The Last of Us meets Stardew Valley,” huh? Alright, consider my interest piqued! What we’ve got here is the upcoming title Ashfield Hollow, developed and published by BitQuest Studio. On top of that line about “The Last of Us meets Stardew Valley,” Ashfield Hollow additionally presents itself within this press release as “a post-apocalyptic life sim blending real-time survival combat with the slow work of building a life, and a home, in a world that nearly ended, and still can.”
As of the time of writing, the closest thing we have to a concrete release window for Ashfield Hollow is “Q1 2027.” That’s a good bit less vague than the ever-frustrating “coming soon” or “to be announced,” at least. In the meantime, however, BitQuest Studio has just released a rather meaty playable demo on Steam. “The demo covers the first 50 days in Camp Ashfield, roughly 10 hours of gameplay on default settings. Save data carries over to the full release, so nothing you build is wasted. The demo is fully controller and Steam Deck-friendly, and comes with extensive sandbox options.”
As per the press release, those extensive options range “from the character creator through to fine-tuning zombie numbers, health, detection range, and respawn speed, so every playthrough can be tuned exactly how you want it. Ten years after the outbreak, you wake up in Camp Ashfield with no memory of who you were and a new life to build in what remains of the world.” You might as well make the most of the chance to start over. You can download the Ashfield Hollow demo on Steam now, as well as wishlist Ashfield Hollow to be notified when the full game releases.
