Xbox hasn’t had the lead in whatever’s left of the console race for quite some time. As a primary Xbox gamer, I haven’t been as low on the company as others, but even longtime fans like myself feel a bit in the dark about what the future might hold for the company. With Asha Sharma at the helm, her first Xbox Games Showcase is going to be a pretty big milestone in her tenure. Here are three announcements I think we need to see from the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 for it to be a success.

Don’t Make Me Beg, Give us The Fable Release Date

Still sticking with the vague “Fall” release window, Playground Games and Xbox need to put a date on Fable at Xbox Games Showcase 2026. If we’re just months away from launch and we know Grand Theft Auto VI is looming on November 19, I think an October date makes a lot of sense.

Worst comes to worst, delay the game, but I think some solid dates can make this Xbox Games Showcase feel more confident. I wouldn’t say the brand or the company is oozing with authority or credibility right now, given the way prices keep flopping back and forth on Game Pass and the way we continue to see developers the company has acquired release games to mixed reactions. Give us a date on Fable, one of the most anticipated games of the year, and we’ll all feel a little less nervous about what’s to come.

A Potential 2027 Window for Clockwork Revolution, Or At Least Something

First announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2023, Clockwork Revolution is due for a more substantial trailer and update. I don’t think we’ll see this in 2026, especially given the fact that Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War E-Day, and Fable make up a solid first-party lineup for the year, not to mention the Halo remake. Still, a 2027 release window for InXile Entertainment’s latest project would be huge.

Dare I say, a gameplay trailer might even give us a better idea of what to expect. The 5-minute trailer above is certainly nothing, but there’s a lot of mystery around this game. Call me greedy, but I want a bit more visibility into what this steampunk first-person title might offer.

State of Decay 3 – Does This Headline Xbox 2027 Releases?

My favorite Xbox game of the last generation is getting another entry, hurrah! Except, we don’t know a thing about it. A gorgeous trailer is about all we have in terms of updates for this one, so why not give fans a new glimpse and set it solidly in the 2027 lineup? That’d leave you with Clockwork Revolution, State of Decay 3, and hopefully, a new Halo title for next year. Deliver on those announcements above and a real update of State of Decay 3 at Xbox Games Showcase 2026, and Asha Sharma will have a lot of goodwill to play with as she remakes the company.
