I’ve been very much looking forward to Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the latest entry in the long-running Might and Magic series, which just entered early access a few weeks ago. This week, publisher Hooded Horse, in partnership with Ubisoft, has announced plans for future content updates, which is certainly exciting considering the game is looking promising thus far with over 1 million copies sold in the first month.

The first order of business players can expect will be some balance adjustments to hero skills and the option of advanced features for the random map generator along with the addition of Teamplay Mode. Next coming in quarter four of 2026 will be the addition of Observer Mode and Replays as well as matchmaking improvements and a rework to the Elite Class.  The developers have also stated that in between these goals, players can expect regular updates which will add new content in the form of heroes, enemies, and spells as well as map objectives and templates alongside various scenarios to battle through.

Another constant part of these updates will be implementation of Bug fixes, the addition of various quality-of-life features, and balance adjustments to enemy AI. A few other general goals mentioned for early access included things like an Ironman campaign mode, underground terrain options for maps, match statistics, and the addition of a Thieves Guild. This is an important structure that has made appearances throughout the series and provides pivotal information on opposing players’ stats during the game as well as their army composition, allowing you to plan ahead.  There is no timeline for when these will be added, just that they will be present at some point during the early access phase.

In terms of content reserved for the full release, this will include things like the 2nd and 3rd acts of the main campaign as well as a PVE Roguelike mode, map-sharing support, and Steam achievements. Additional modes for PVP are also planned though what these modes will entail remains unknown. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is available in early access now on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The timeframe for early access as of now is about a year, with the full launch planned for 2027.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
