The Last Gas Station is out now

I might have made it clear over my umpteenth articles where I reference the likes of Theme Hospital and other stalwarts of the management genre, I love a good business management or management game in general. One such game that I’ve kept an eye on for a while now is Beholder developer Alawar’s The Last Gas Station. A sort of nostalgic pixel art shopkeeping, management game where, in a world dominated by electric cars, you run the titular last gas station. Here is what the press release has to say:

“Ready to open up shop? Alawar’s new narrative-rich cozy sim, The Last Gas Station, launched [yesterday] on Steam! In this highly anticipated standout title from February Steam Next Fest, play as a red panda as you rebuild the last standing gas station and other nearby shops in a world dominated by electric vehicles.

As you build out your station, you’ll unlock the ability to revamp other shops, such as the car wash and car repair buildings, explore new areas, and get to know the quirky locals. You can even sell souvenirs to passing travellers — so their experience at your gas station will remain a fond memory. However, as you build your roadside haven by day, something mysterious lurks in the night.”

As I say, this one has been on my wishlist for a while, and I’ll admit that the release kind of snuck up on me – especially when the release date was announced only two weeks before launch. Yes, I’ll go grumble and gripe about that privately. Nonetheless, The Last Gas Station is out now on Steam for $13.99 with a 15% discount, taking it down to $11.89 until May 12th. You can also pick up some delightful bundles, including one with the fantastic Tiny Book Shop, one with Gas Station Simulator, and another with Bear & Breakfast.
