Earlier this year, when I was catching up on the latest viral sensations on Steam and Twitch, I was shocked to see a game catching a lot of eyes that had such a simple name. A Game About Digging A Hole is quite literally, well, a game about digging a hole. It takes less than four hours to complete, costs $4.99, but completely captured the psyche of fans who praised its shockingly deep story. Now, A Game About Digging A Hole is coming to consoles, and might be a great way to spend an evening if you’re looking for a short experience.

Armed with your trusty spade, the player in A Game About Digging A Hole starts in a brand-new backyard. As you work to uncover valuable resources and upgrade your tools, you begin to unearth the secrets buried beneath the soil. There’s no timer, no pressure, just the satisfying rhythm of discovery as you dig deeper and deeper. And please, don’t spoil yourself on how the game progresses. It’s well worth seeing for yourself.

There’s a growing interest in these shorter, less expensive experiences. For example, I can rent a movie from my Amazon Fire TV for about the cost of A Game About Digging A Hole. To me, as someone who loves games, the thought of playing something for a night sometimes seems more appealing than just watching it. PC players loved this indie game-turned-hidden gem, and it’s great to see console players will now get a chance to try it themselves. The game is also arriving on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Premium, and Ultimate tiers.

A Game About Digging A Hole arrived on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch this week. Let us know if you gave this one a shot on PC in the comments!
