There’s no shortage of demos to check out on Steam right now, especially after the recent Next Fest gave us so much to test out. One title I found just by scrolling through X and the tag of #screenshotsaturday giving me yet another indie game to love was Freaked Fleapit – a rhythm-action title in the vein of Crypt of the NecroDancer. While I could never get a good handle on that game’s gameplay, Freaked Fleapit‘s aesthetic and vibe reeled me in and I was willing to give it a second chance. Now, there’s a public demo available on the Steam page.

The most striking part of Freaked Fleapit is its vibrant color palette, adorned by its multiple scantily-clad characters that you can engage with and woo after runs. Fully-voiced, these women are as vivifying as they are enrapturing. There will surely be a type for the target audience, whether it is the drowsy Keyla or the over-the-top Ruby. When you’re done completing tasks with these personalities, you’re moving and attacking to the beat through stages of Hell. You’ll have to maintain each hop in time with the music and plan out your movements so that you can only land attacks and not get hit in the process. Once it clicks, you’ll breeze through these randomly generated levels.

Much more than a pervy self-insert dating simulator, Freaked Fleapit has a neat premise and executes its combat quite well. Once you wrap your head around how you’re supposed to dance around each room, you’ll do much more damage than you’ll take and be on your way to courting the characters from Hell of your choosing. While there’s no release date yet for Freaked Fleapit, this first look at the title is polished, engaging, and worth a try if you’re so inclined.
