Unlike previous times, when I said that I’d come back during one of these Steam Next Fest articles, I’ve actually done it. So let’s not mess about; I gave a good few suggestions yesterday for demos to try during this SNF. Let’s move to the second part.
Star Trek: Outposts Unknown, developed by Magic Fuel Games – 2026
Rather fitting after the announcement of Strange New Worlds returning soon, let’s do colony sim Star Trek. Revealed during the PC Gaming Show this year, you better know I put Rimworld x Star Trek on my wishlist straight away. The demo has been out since about then, and it is alright from what I know, but a little bit chunky and toy-like for the visuals. It also seems to need a little bit more refinement. It is fine, but I don’t expect it until very late this year rather than a month or two from now.
No Such Place, developed by ChillyRoom – 2026
“In No Such Place, players take on the role of agents from the U.R.C. — Unknown Research Consortium. This mysterious organisation is dedicated to investigating supernatural anomalies erased from known history,” noted the press release I got yesterday after already making my shortlist the night before. The reason I’ve included this one is, firstly, it looks like RE4 inventory management, secondly, I don’t often talk about extraction shooters, and thirdly, it isn’t like Tarkov, where you’re killing other people. No Such Place is more about online co-op PvE, which I’m more partial to.
Ascenders: Beyond the Peak, developed by Ludogram – Q3 2026
I’ll tell you right now, the only reason I got even slightly interested in Ascenders is my love for this year’s Cairn. However, Ascenders is a little bit different in that it is a turn-based exploration Rogue-lite with a hint of “H.P. Lovecraft-inspired horrors within the mountain.” Yes, the majority of those words are typically something that I run away from like a screaming child from a white van, but I do love the overall look.
ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs, developed by Mandragora – 2026
Right, hear me out here: You are in Japan and run a little shop where you take people’s old electronics and repair them, but each piece of tech tells its own story. Indeed, I was sold by that too, but I was also sold by the fact that the visuals are beautiful with a capital B. Want to find out the story of a gangster’s Nokia 3210? I don’t. I’d rather like my kneecaps being intact, thank you very much.
Silver Pines, developed by Wych Elm – October 8th
Another one that I like the look of first, then I look at the gameplay a little bit more and realize it’s not typically something I enjoy. It is also the first of this article to have a release date set. Silver Pines is a side-on “survival horror metroidvania set in small-town America,” and suddenly every David Lynch fan sat forward to hide their erection. Beautiful, a little bit gory, and the lead character, Red Walker, looks like Bob Dylan took meth and took a shotgun to everyone moaning about his electric run. Visually beautiful for a horror game and certainly interesting.
Songs of Glimmerwick, developed by Eastshade Studios – 2026
This one is unbelievably stunning and was suggested by David. The best way I can round this one up is simply to imagine if Joanne wasn’t a terrible human being, and you could enjoy witchy school stuff again? A very pretty little game that I am going to be keeping an eye on, and I don’t even like that sort of fantasy nonsense. Give me witchy life sim school RPG right now.
Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?!, developed by Strange Scaffold – July 29th
The blurb alone will sell this one for some people: “Your truck is magic, and you now owe a soul debt to the buff isekai elf girl living in your head.” Look, I didn’t include this one to make fun of certain people who love anime; I included it because you drive a little truck around a “kawaii” style town as you run over people, smash into cars, and generally be a menace. But why? Because that powers the “buff isekai elf girl” in your head fighting fantasy monsters at the bottom of the screen. Need I say more?
Corsair Cove, developed by Limbic Entertainment – July 31st
Let me sell you on a game by telling you a basic premise: A pirate-themed city builder where you build a cove full of pirate friends to fight “the crown,” which I’m going to say is hopefully 1689 and beyond. My political beliefs aside, a swashbuckling city builder sounds like great fun to me. I also love the shanty town aesthetic with all the little bridges spanning the cliff faces so your pirates can get around the many cliff-face buildings. It is a fun little idea to manage a pirate hideout.
Rites & Receipts, developed by Infinite Inbox – 2026

Aside from the developer being named what my email is to some people, Infinite Inbox’s Rites & Receipts is Papers, Please but slightly magical, fantasy nonsense in an era of highwaymen and witch trials of 17th-century England. I have no better way of explaining this one because it describes itself as that, “As a ritual clerk, you must verify public requests, consult the manual, and process the paperwork for a world of petty hexes.” What is not to love?
Before the Tee, developed by GT Labs LLC – TBA

Ok, I just had to think about this one for a hot minute and see what I wanted to close out this one, and then I saw “a top-down golf course management sim.” You know that went straight on my wishlist faster than a $5 hooker. Build a little golf course, decide the times people tee off, manage the course in general, and maintain everything. Imagine if RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 was a golf game; that’s all I am saying. Ok, that only excites about three boring people like myself, but shut up, it is my list.
I still have far too many demos to talk about to have in one article, so I might be back for a third part because I like talking/shouting about games. Go away now. Wait! Have you seen any demos worth shouting about? Tell us below! Ok, now you can go away.
