We are almost there, folks. We’re mid-way through May, and Summer Game Fest is upon us in June. As such, it is time to consider what we may see in the next few weeks. I have a few picks of things I want to dig into, so here is what I hope SGF 2026 should give us this year.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave:

It has been a while since we’ve seen anything in regard to Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. It is slated to be released in 2026, but right now, we don’t know exactly when. There is a lot to cover, too, such as whether it is an alternate universe, sequel, or prequel to Three Houses. A lot of people speculate that it is a prequel, but I think there is room for a few different interpretations of what we know so far.

Kingdom Hearts 4 / Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Third Entry:

I put these two together because it is highly unlikely that we’ll get both. Square Enix tends to only market one major headlining release at a time, and depending on where the third entry in the FFVII Remake trilogy sits will depend on which game we see this year. We know that Kingdom Hearts IV is still making good progress, but we haven’t seen anything from FFVII R3 beyond vague comments that progress is being made. Summer Game Fest is a great place to show off either of these games. Who knows? We might break this trend and get two surprises, with Dragon Quest XII rumored to be coming this year.

A New Zelda Title:

With this year being the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series, Nintendo has been pretty tight-lipped. Rumors have swirled about a Twilight Princess HD Remake, as well as a full-on Ocarina of Time Remake, the size of something like the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Nothing has been confirmed, but with this being the 40th anniversary, I’d bet good money on something Zelda-related being announced.

Grave Seasons:

Drifting away from speculative stuff, I’m really excited to see more of Perfect Garbage Games and Blumhouse Games’ Grave Seasons. We know it is coming on August 14th, but it would be cool to see a demo announcement, or even just a small gameplay preview this year.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement:

I’d love to get a release date for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement this Summer Game Fest. I’m a huge Bloodstained fan, and with Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse coming this year, having Bloodstained’s sequel release in 2026 gives another great Metroidvania experience. I’d love to see a trailer featuring more gameplay, but a release date would be the icing on the cake.

Control Resonant:

We know Control Resonant is releasing this year, and a Geoff Keighley presentation wouldn’t be complete without Sam Lake showing up, or at least a Remedy presentation. So, it would be cool to finally get a release date for Control Resonant, so I can get my grubby little mitts on Dylan Faden’s adventure in Manhattan.

I could list a dozen more things that I would love to see, but keeping it short is probably a good idea. I’ll turn it over to you, though, dear reader. What do you want to see at Summer Game Fest this year?
