An ex-CD Projekt RED dev walks into a bar. They decide to make a new game. You might imagine someone who worked on teams behind games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Dying Light would land on something futuristic and full-throttle. Instead, the dev behind the new studio Little Lantern has something different in store. How about a cozy work companion that grows a cozy village as you get your to-do list done? Best of all, it’s full release is right around the corner. Here’s what we know about Focus Grove.

Little Lantern is a Polish 3-friend studio, with 2 additional friends as regular contractors, who have their eyes set on the next big cozy work-companion title. The idle game genre grows as we look to inject a little whimsy into the workday, and I’m here for it. For all of us, we know that work can be a lot, and a fun way to bring the digital world to life in our real-world tasks and responsibilities is really inviting. That’s why Focus Grove exists. It’s a cozy work companion that helps with your daily tasks while keeping you focused, motivated, and balanced.

The lead dev behind Little Lantern went so far as to offer a personal story regarding the game’s inspiration, sharing that “crunch and burnout are real things in the gamedev industry, and my wife and I and our friends experienced it heavily. That’s why we decided to create a cozy game that will help players manage their work and their lives better, while creating a woodland farm of their dreams.”

When I reviewed Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, I mentioned loving the idea of a work companion game. For me, a lot of my day is spent at a laptop, between writing for this wonderful website and my full-time job. There are a lot of things to keep track of, and I find my brain loves nothing more than to drift away and think of anything else but the task at hand. A little incentive never hurt anybody, and I can definitely see Focus Grove becoming a staple in my workflow when it releases.
