Well, that was earlier than I expected. It was only last week that I noted that a new demo for Dream Dock’s DREADMOOR was out, and (announced yesterday) we’ll get a bit more than just a demo early next month. Heading to early access, we’ll get the “core experience and main gameplay systems […] already in place,” with the team working on balancing, polish, and taking on feedback from players. Here is what the press release had to say about DREADMOOR‘s early access release:

“DREADMOOR casts off onto PC via Steam Early Access on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026. The dark first-person fishing adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world from developer Dream Dock and publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment ranks in the top 100 most wishlisted games on Steam.

Marooned in the strange and cursed Submerged Lands, take the helm of a rickety boat in hopes of escaping. Salvage wreckage and flotsam to repair the ship, then find a way to civilization, or the closest thing to it in a place like this: an ominous bait shop perched atop a set of monstrous crab legs. Armed with a rod, reel, and a few curious-looking lures, head back out onto the inky waters to catch the most twisted fish you’ve ever laid eyes on.”

The press release continues, describing your more personal adventure: “As captain, pilot the trawler through an ominous network of inlets and lakes to find the best spots for reeling in denizens of the deep. Master the art of a tactile fishing system, picking the right lures, and letting the line play out while waiting for just the right moment to reel in a monster. Carefully arrange each catch in the hold’s compartments – some fish are content to share space, while carnivorous sea creatures cannibalize profits, given the chance.

Keep a weather eye on the ship’s hull and fuel. Use a handy grappling gun to haul in salvage found throughout this ruined world – one captain’s wreckage is another one’s upgrade. Return to the bait shop with a full hold and scavenged materials, and get to work making stronger rods, a sturdier hull, and fancier lures to attract the Submerged Lands’ most reclusive denizens. Be ready for anything: No one enters these waters at the top of the food chain.”

From there, the press release details how early access will work and for how long the team expects DREADMOOR to be in early access: “DREADMOOR’s Early Access version will feature the full core gameplay experience with the complete storyline, and a variety of fish species and mutations to discover. After completing story content, freely explore to continue fishing and upgrading the boat and equipment. Dream Dock aims for DREADMOOR to be in Early Access for 6 to 12 months, with new content to be added during this period, and will be available at a lower price during Early Access.”

Rostislav Fedorov, CEO of Dream Dock, noted, “Based on everyone’s feedback from our playtests and demo, we want to take the time to make sure that DREADMOOR lives up to the expectations from everyone. Your feedback on Steam, Discord, Reddit, [and] our in-game surveys – we’re reading everything, and you’re helping us make the game better.”

As I say, I am somewhat surprised to see DREADMOOR going into early access so quickly after a demo was released, though I am not complaining. DREADMOOR is releasing into early access on November 9th – because everything releases that first week and a half of November – which you can also wishlist now ahead of time.
