I love a bit of poker. The advent of recent gambling games like Balatro has definitely scratched that itch for me, but one classic always hits the right spot. The remade version of Poker Night at the Inventory is a lot of fun, but after playing its initial four tables for a while, I put it down.
Now, I have plenty of reasons (4 specifically) to pick it back up, as the most recent update just added a heavy batch of new content to the game! The dev team has added 4 new tables that you can unlock, giving plenty of reasons to dive back in and play more rounds of poker. Here is what the press release says about the update:

“Calling all fans of consequence-free gambling and witty banter: Skunkape Games’ Poker Night at the Inventory has just received a juicy content update on Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. You heard it here first!
Poker Night at the Inventory is a comedy poker game that pits players against four trash-talking, somewhat famous opponents in round after round of high(ish)-stakes Texas hold’em: Max from Sam & Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, Tycho from Penny Arcade, and the Heavy from Team Fortress 2.

Originally released by Telltale in 2010 and removed from sale in 2019, Poker Night at the Inventory made its anticipated return to digital storefronts earlier this year in a remaster by Skunkape Games, a small team of former Telltale employees who worked on the original.
Today’s version 1.5.0 update includes four new poker tables that players can unlock by winning tournaments:

- Toys of Power, themed after Max’s trippy telekinetic abilities interface in Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse
- Parsnips A-Plenty, inspired by an iconic old-timey Homestar Runner short
- Gabe’s Shirt XXXL, featuring retro shading on Tycho and a table-sized version of Gabe’s beloved yellow shirt from the Penny Arcade comics
- Mann vs. Machine, paying homage to Team Fortress 2‘s MvM co-op mode with a robotic skin for the Heavy

When our Poker Night at the Inventory remaster came out in March, some longtime fans were miffed that the upgraded lighting, graphics, and visual effects stripped away some of the original’s… stank, for lack of a better word.
We aim to please over at Skunkape Games, so you can now flip a switch in the settings menu to enable Stank Mode, a subtly grimy filter that makes the colors a little less vibrant, the atmosphere a little smokier, and the overall aesthetic just a bit dingier. You asked for it, friends.”

In addition to this update, Steam now has a bundle with Poker Night at the Inventory Remastered and Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate. This adds 3 “bite-sized point & click adventures starring your favorite detective, Dangeresque (aka Strong Bad sporting a pair of stylish sunglasses)” to the equation, which sounds like a lot of fun if you ask me.
