September 2026’s Humble Choice Bundle is Here

For me, August was the second month this year that felt like it lasted ten million years instead of thirty-one days. I felt the same about this past January, but at least it wasn’t constantly obscenely hot outside in January. Regardless, September is finally upon us, and so is its Humble Choice bundle. This bundle will be available for purchase until Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 at 10 AM Pacific Time. It’s the same deal as usual: eight games are on offer, all of which can be redeemed on Steam, alongside the obligatory one-month IGN Plus subscription. Alright, let’s do this!

For a change of pace, this bundle has two games that are likely intended as “co-headliners.” Starting us off this month is Frostpunk 2, developed and published by 11 bit studios. Frostpunk 2 will expect players to “develop, expand, and advance your city in a society survival game set 30 years after an apocalyptic blizzard ravaged Earth.” An apocalyptic Blizzard, you say? Well, that doesn’t sound like it will provide very much Entertainment! “In Frostpunk 2, you face not only the perils of never-ending winter, but also the powerful factions that watch your every step inside the Council Hall.”

Next up is Sonic X Shadow Generations, developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. Given how long the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has stuck around (some would say “stubbornly refused to die”), I would say this part of September’s bundle needs very little introduction. Personally, as a long-standing Internet meme historian, the version of Sonic I prefer is in an animated cartoon and voiced by Jaleel White alongside the late Long John Baldry as Dr. Ivo Robotnik (now officially known as “Dr. Eggman”). Alas, even I have to eventually acknowledge that those glory days are long behind us.

“Speeding” right along, our next entry is Voidtrain, developed and published by HypeTrain Digital. In Voidtrain, you’ll “become a crew member of an Interdimensional Express Train” as you “discover a new world full of mysterious creatures, enemies, and places.” You’ll need to “upgrade and customize your train, gather new materials, and build better weapons” alongside up to three co-op partners you can bring along. For the sake of transparency, I want to point out that Voidtrain currently has “mixed” recent reviews on Steam, though its overall reviews are still considered “mostly positive.” Do with that information whatever you will.

Next up is Ballionaire, developed by newobject and published by Raw Fury. I like to describe Ballionaire as “the most Devolver Digital game with which Devolver Digital had no involvement.” That is to say, Ballionaire is very weird in multiple ways I find enjoyable. Ballionaire describes itself as “a fast-paced, kinetic roguelike where strategy meets physics to create outrageous wealth!” You’ll need to “find and exploit game-breaking synergies.” I mean this as a sincere compliment: Ballionaire is somewhat like pachinko (or Plinko from The Price is Right), if either of those were to take alarmingly high amounts of hallucinogenic substances.

To introduce entry number five, allow me to intentionally misquote the opening line from former professional wrestler John Cena’s original entrance music: “So, you think you’re Guntouchable?” Yes, it’s Guntouchables, developed by Game Swing and published by Ghost Ship Publishing. Guntouchables is “an online co-op doomsday roguelite” intended for anywhere from one to four players. “You play as a gun-toting group of ‘preppers’ trying to reclaim the world from an ever-evolving horde of mutants, constantly working to develop new unique ways to kill you.” Well, that sounds to me like it’s appropriate to operate on a “kill or be killed” basis.

Keeping with the spirit of intentionally misquoting song lyrics: “In the jungle, the Urban Jungle, entry six sleeps tonight.” Urban Jungle, developed by KYLYK (isn’t that the staff user from Soul Calibur?) and published by Assemble Entertainment, will require players to “use luscious plants to turn your ordinary home into a green haven, find the best place for each plant in your small apartment, and enjoy gardening without worries, and don’t forget to pet your cat!” That description lists the most important priority last, but at least Urban Jungle does acknowledge that remembering to pet your cat is an absolute must.

Our penultimate offering this month is Pocket Mirror ~ Goldenertraum, developed by AstralShift and published by KOMODO. Pocket Mirror’s Steam store page describes it as an “acclaimed RPG Maker gothic horror game that’ll take you on a moving journey of self-discovery.” I’m afraid I can’t tell you anything more than that about Pocket Mirror ~ Goldenertraum, mainly since I had never heard of it before it appeared in this bundle and was intrigued by its unusual title. I could certainly do with a journey of self-discovery, so I’m quite curious to try out Pocket Mirror ~ Goldenertraum and see what it’s all about.

Last but not least, we have Keylocker: Turn Based Cyberpunk Action. Developed by Moonana and published by Serenity Forge, Keylocker describes itself as an “unforgiving, turn-based rhythm RPG” set “in a silent world where music is outlawed.” You’ll be expected to “play as a singer to shatter the strings of fate and sing the melody of freedom.” Call me easily impressed, but that last quote is phrased such that it sounds like a great time to me. That’ll do it for this month, folks, so I’ll take my leave until October’s Humble Choice bundle goes live!
