Amazon Luna Games with Prime – August 2026

To borrow from Barry Manilow for a second, oh Jeffrey. A bit later in the month than we’re used to, we’ve finally got an update on what you’ll be able to pick up with your Amazon Prime subscription via Luna, but not the Cloud Gaming streaming nonsense. That side actually sounds not terrible this month, with Bluey: The Videogame, Disney/Pixar Brave: The Game, and Disney/Pixar: WALL-E available now, with both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Mirage available later in the month. You’ll never finish the latter two because no one has, but they are better than 90% of what I am about to talk about.

Available now via GOG is Right and Down, which is, oddly enough, the directions to my Recycle Bin. Released in 2022, Right and Down is yet another godforsaken Rogue-like deckbuilder card game, but thankfully it isn’t the developer’s other genre penchant. The first of mc2games’ offerings that hasn’t been another escape-the-room game, I’m glad about that, but we already have Balatro; we don’t need any more Rogue-like deckbuilders. I’ll get naughty words from my editor about that, but I am right.

Also available now and via GOG, but I can’t be as snarky with the title, is Hiveswap Friendsim. From the developer of Pesterquest and the two other Hiveswap games, Hiveswap Friendsim is a visual novel version of the point-and-click adventure games. It is the type of thing a certain group of people will enjoy due to its likeness to Homestuck. If I moan about it any longer, I’ll have people with anime and Undertale profile pictures sending me death threats. If you like visual novels and 2009 flash animation art, go nuts.

I spoke too soon. Available as of yesterday (the 13th) via GOG, you can now pick up the second offering from mc2games in Pyramids and Aliens: Escape Room. I’m about to get death threats in a minute from people who think Giorgio A. Tsoukalos is a genius and that the History Channel is broadcasting actual history with that pseudoscience nonsense. Yes, it is another one of those escape room things with a heavy emphasis on pseudoscience and the conspiracy that aliens made something that slave labour did. I’ll happily burst that little bubble.

Moving on to the Epic Games Store for the first time this month, we’ve also got Airship: Kingdoms Adrift available now. Released in 2023, Airship: Kingdoms Adrift is a flying pirate ship naval combat sim in a fantasy land full of “Steampunk” aesthetics, and like most naval combat sims, you spend too much time circling whatever you’re attacking until one of you dies. Not attractive, not engaging, and not particularly exciting, so it fits well for this month’s Prime Gaming/Luna.

I could have sworn we had covered this next one somewhere, but apparently not. Available now via the Epic Games Store and sadly has you playing in France, Steelrising is if Lies of P was set during the French Revolution. Developed by Spiders (must have been easy with all those legs), you can expect a competent game but with a shaky gameplay foundation; see GreedFall or anything else developed by Spiders.

Onto next week, the 20th of August, and a game on a platform that no one knows because Amazon can’t be bothered to tell us that, Royal Romances: Forbidden Magic. Oh, my clairvoyant powers are telling me it is awful. I’d have used a different word, but I am not allowed to swear, sadly. With a name like that, what else could it be other than a crap hidden-object game with as much gameplay as a half-finished join-the-dots puzzle? I’d rather eat paint.

Speaking of which, via the Amazon Games App from the 20th, Spray Paint Simulator. Basically, Power Wash Simulator, but you are painting instead of spraying water. There is nothing to add to that. Maybe the fact that it is purposefully short because it is a joke on the whole Power Wash Sim craze, but it is what it is and is enjoyable either way.

Onto the 27th and penultimate offering, which is a repeat of something bland that was on Epic a handful of months ago. Available via the Amazon Games App, or the Epic Games Store if you were around during March, you can pick up Havendock. Released in 2025 after two years in early access, it can still be described as a “Roblox-on-Ozempic art style.” If you’re looking for a colony sim but run out of them, then Havendock is certainly a game in that genre.

The final game is available from the 27th via the Epic Games Store, and don’t worry, I’d never heard of it either. Clash: Artifacts of Chaos is an action-RPG with hints of souls-like gameplay in there and with a strange art style. Then again, what do you expect from the developer of Rock of Ages and The Eternal Cylinder? Apparently in the same universe as Zeno Clash, it certainly didn’t make as much of an impact as its former games in the series, nor the developer’s other titles.
