I love life-sim games and cooking games. So, when I find out about games that mix the two genres, I’m sold. Green Rapture Games just provided a ton of new info on its new cozy life-sim set in Japan, Sushi on Wheels.

Specifically, Sushi on Wheels will be released on December 7th, 2026. It is also celebrating a 10,000 wishlist milestone and will be a part of Steam Cooking Fest from October 12th-19th and the Steam Next Fest from October 19th-26th. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:

“Today, Greene Rapture is announcing that its cozy new cooking game set in Japan, Sushi On Wheels, that will [sic] be releasing on December 7, 2026.

Sushi on Wheels has also just surpassed 10,000 wishlists and will be part of Steam Cooking Fest (October 12-19) and Steam Next Fest (October 19-26). A demo of the game is playable on Steam right now.

After your grandmother’s death, you inherit her food truck and set out to complete her dying wish of opening a restaurant. Players start out with just her food truck and travel Japan’s Izu Peninsula[,] competing in food festivals, selling sushi, and upgrading your truck – with the end goal of gaining enough success to win the local festivals and open a permanent restaurant.

Sushi On Wheels was inspired by the developer’s real-life experiences living in Japan and travelling throughout its picturesque Izu Peninsula.”

Neil O’Sullivan Greene, founder of Green Rapture, commented on the announcement, stating: “The idea for Sushi On Wheels came about while I was living in Japan with my partner and visiting her family. During that time, we took a trip to the Izu Peninsula, and I was immediately struck by how much character the area had. Between the seaside towns, beaches, mountains and local communities, it felt like the perfect setting for a cozy game, yet it wasn’t a part of Japan I had really seen represented in games before.

I started imagining what a game set there could look like, and that eventually grew into Sushi On Wheels: [A] cozy management game about running a sushi food truck, travelling around the peninsula, meeting the people who live there and becoming part of the local community.”

I hadn’t seen anything about Sushi on Wheels before writing this article, but it went directly on my wishlist. I’m very excited to check it out in December, and it’ll likely be part of my gaming during our December-January break too. You can check out a demo for it now thanks to the Steam Cooking Fest, so go give it a look.
