Apple Crumble gets release date

I feel like I have to admit that I’ve been singing a twisted version of an already twisted version of “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain When She Comes.” Why yes, it was an even more twisted version of “Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny aff a bus,” but that’s beside the point because Happy Broccoli Games announced the release date for the granny protection game, Apple Crumble. Yes, the developer behind the famous Duck Detective games is making another detective game, but this time about your gran’s 84th birthday. Here is what the press release had to say about the announcement:

“Apple Crumble is a suspenseful interactive mystery set during your grandma’s 84th birthday party. One of the guests is out to knife your Nan, but the question is – who?

It’s down to you to uncover the truth. Explore your childhood home, reconnect with your dysfunctional family, and work out who you can trust before it’s time for tea in this short, twisty thriller from the creators of Duck Detective.

Featuring a fully voiced cast of suspects:

Your beloved grandma
Your stressed-out mum
Your midlife crisis uncle
The weird man in your bedroom
You”

A rather short press release, yes, but according to it, Apple Crumble will once again be a rather short experience. It is estimated you’ll get about 60-90 minutes out of the mystery-thriller later this year; it will fall in line with Happy Broccoli Games’ previous titles in terms of runtime. There is also a demo on Steam right now, which is said to take 20-30 minutes to complete, which, when cut up, is about a third. I hate puns and wordplay; why am I doing that?

Nonetheless, you’ll get a slice of Apple Crumble later this year when it releases on the 3rd of December on Steam. Also, according to the press release, you’ll be able to play on Windows, Mac, or Linux. I cannot wait. Since it was announced earlier this year, I’ve been extremely excited to see what is next from the team behind Duck Detective, and I think Apple Crumble is aiming to be just a little bit more mature than a noir detective duck addicted to bread. December 3rd can’t come soon enough.
