Cassette Beasts 2002 gets 2027 Release Window

Despite having it in my library, I haven’t gotten around to playing Cassette Beasts yet. The game is a cool take on the creature-collector genre, but it still lies squarely in my backlog, unfortunately. The developers, however, have revealed the release window for the upcoming sequel, Cassette Beasts 2002.

According to an announcement from Raw Fury last week, Cassette Beasts 2002 will be released in March 2027. Not only will fans be able to enjoy this sequel, but the dev team has stated that it is a decent starting point as well. Cassette Beasts 2002 will be coming to PC and all major console platforms. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:

“Raw Fury announced that Cassette Beasts 2002, the highly anticipated follow-up installment in the creature-collecting Cassette Beasts series, will launch in March 2027.

Developed by Bytten Studios and the follow-up installment in the creature-collecting Cassette Beasts series, Cassette Beasts 2002 is a retro-inspired, creature-collector, turn-based RPG set in Nodnol, a nostalgic ode to 2000s London.

Players explore the worlds where man and beast collide to uncover an occultist’s plot and transform into over 250+ beasts. Cassette Beasts 2002 offers an exciting journey for returning fans, but also serves as a perfect entry point into the world of Cassette Beasts. Challenging battles and unique beasts await players.

Cassette Beasts 2002 will launch in March 2027 on XBOX Series S|X and XBOX on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.”

This is a good excuse for me to dust off the original game from the backlog, which currently sits at 95% Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. I’m really curious about the new one too, since screenshots (and the trailer below) look really good. Cassette Beasts 2002 may not have an official release date, but the March 2027 window is a good start.
