August is here, and summer is slowly (too slow for me to be honest) drifting toward Autumn. Over the weekend, fans all over the world celebrated Moomin’s Day, which celebrates Tove Jansson’s (the creator of the Moomintrolls) birthday. With this, the developers of Moomin: Midsummer Madness released a small tidbit of information on the upcoming game: a release window.

Ironically for a game set in “Midsummer,” Moomin: Midsummer Madness isn’t releasing in the summer. No, the dev team at Crossbridge Game Studios has announced an Autumn release window for the game. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:

“As fans all over the world celebrate Moomin’s Day, the yearly tradition taking place on beloved author and artist Tove Jansson’s birthday, developer Crossbridge Game Studios and publisher Shochiku Games are delighted to reveal that their cozy point-and-click adventure Moomin: Midsummer Madness will launch this Autumn 2026 for PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, a physical edition on Nintendo Switch will be available at launch.

Moomin: Midsummer Madness is a point-and-click adventure game starring Moomintroll and Little My. Inspired by Tove Jansson’s classic novel Moominsummer Madness, the game features iconic scenes from the original work alongside brand-new stories. The world of Moominvalley is brought to life through beautiful, hand-drawn art that stays true to the original aesthetic.

Inspired by Jansson’s 1954 fantasy novel Moominsummer Madness, players will embark on a new heartfelt journey with the Moomin family as Moominvalley is submerged by a great flood. Uncover the secrets of a mysterious floating theatre full of familiar faces in this charming, hand-painted adventure.

Whether you celebrate this Moomin’s Day by reading your favorite Moomin book, relaxing with your family, or creating something of your very own, we hope it’s full of love and joy!

I fell in absolute love with Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth, so playing Moomin: Midsummer Madness is high on my list. I’m hoping to see more games in the Moomin world too, as Snufkin and Moomintroll’s previous games have been a delight. Here’s hoping we get an actual release date soon.
