Where Winds Meet is one of those titles that I still can’t really believe is free to play, given its level of polish and expansive content. This week, the development team has announced the second major free DLC expansion for the game, which will release on July 23rd.

The Hidden Mountain expansion will feature a distinctly eastern-themed Steampunk environment set in the Bujian Mountain. The team boasts that the mountain will be fully open-world and will emphasize the verticality of movement as a prime feature for the various dungeons and outdoor areas.

In terms of story, players will encounter the Mohist Sect on their adventures. The Mohist are the ancient residents of the region, who are known for their engineering skills and have turned the entire mountain into a living machine. This expansion will also feature new gameplay features like the addition of custom vehicles and a new crafting system to accompany them. Additionally, players will have the option to join the Mohist sect and unlock special building-focused skill options and specialized crafting abilities.

The newest combat-focused class specialization comes in the form of the Gauntlet Discipline, which specializes in melee fighting using nothing more than your fists. Practitioners of this discipline will be focused on using their speed to deal heavy burst damage. Furthermore, you can expect this expansion to bring with it a plethora of new bosses themed around the mechanical setting.

Aside from gameplay features, The Hidden Mountain will also deliver a variety of graphical and audio enhancements to improve immersion. The team specifically notes optimized wind dynamics as well as improved light rendering and ray-tracing as highlights for the graphics update.
