Dreadmoor Open Playtest Live Now

Dreadmoor, “the dark fishing adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world” from developer Dream Dock and publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment, is celebrating “more than 200,000 wishlists” by launching its first open playtest as part of the Steam Ocean Fest. Dreadmoor’s first public playtest is available now and will be live through May 25th, 2026. The Steam Ocean Fest will also end that same day. Here is what a press release has to say about the current Dreadmoor playtest: “In a bayou ravaged by an evil plague, board a leaky fishing boat and scavenge to survive – and maybe even turn a profit!

Explore the Submerged Lands to scout out the best fishing spots, but be on the lookout for the fearsome, mutated predators that make these waters their home. For a big enough fish, anything looks like bait. Once your hold is full of mutant fish, head back to the bait shop that’s perched on the back of a gargantuan crab and sell your catch. Scavenge materials to use to upgrade your hull and fishing gear, sell your catches, then seek out deadlier prey to find the rare parts needed for specialty lures and pole upgrades.” Dreadmoor is currently planned to launch in “Q4 2026.”

The press release also comments: “This is just a first peek at what Dreadmoor has in store for the more than 200,000 people who have wishlisted, but once you’ve gotten a taste, well… you’ll be hooked.” As of the time of writing, “Q4 2026” is the most concrete release window we have for Dreadmoor. There is also currently no word about how much Dreadmoor will cost once it’s out, nor about whether or not there will be a playable demo or any future open playtests beyond this one.
