I love a good inventory-management game. Games like Save Room or The Auto Sort is Broken offer fun puzzle elements with the concept of inventory management at its center. Now, new information has come about Barda, an Inventory-Management Roguelike coming to Early Access very soon.

Mudita Games, developer of Barda, has announced that Barda will be coming to Early Access on March 9th. While I am not a huge survival guy, the concepts listed in the press release have me intrigued. Here is what the press release says about Barda:

BARDA is not about fighting enemies — it is about endurance, preparation, and making the most of what you carry. Players attempt to climb an ever-changing, unforgiving mountain where keeping their backpack tidy can mean the difference between life and death.

Your goal is simple: climb as high as possible and scatter your late grandfather’s ashes at the summit. Each run brings new layouts, new challenges, and new decisions, pushing players to adapt, retreat, improve their base camp, and try again.

Inspired by deckbuilder roguelikes and backpack management games, BARDA blends drag-and-drop problem solving, procedural survival, and a strong emotional throughline.

One of BARDA’s most distinctive features is its innovative inventory-based survival system. Hunger, fatigue, madness, and other conditions don’t appear as abstract meters — they physically affect your backpack. Items shift, space becomes harder to manage, and chaos creeps in just when you need clarity the most.

Every challenge is solved directly from your bag. Drag and drop the most suitable item to overcome obstacles and progress to the next zone. If you don’t have the right tool, you can always rely on your own hands — at a cost.

Loot dozens of items across multiple biomes, manage limited space, and decide what to keep, discard, or sacrifice in order to survive just a little longer.

At the start of Early Access, Barda will contain the full loop of “inventory survival gameplay”, procedurally generated runs, as well as multiple biomes, challenges, and item types. Additionally, there will be Base Camp progression and “The Explorer’s Tree”. Other things will be added over time as the Early Access phase progresses. I’m excited to see more about Barda, and we don’t have long to wait.
