Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club has something going for it that almost every other game does not. Snoopy is in it. The pop culture icon has seen a resurgence with Gen-Z, including collaborations with The Red Cross for blood drive merch, a slew of fashion collabs, and a resurgence in both the Charles Schulz comic strip as well as the animated specials from the 1960s and 1970s. There are a lot of reasons in 2025 to play games that aren’t Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club, but for families who love the famous Peanuts characters or someone looking for a cozy adventure, add Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club to your list of fall gaming to-dos.
In a third-person walking sim meets action-puzzle adventure, Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club lets the player control our favorite black-and-white beagle has he searches for clues to solve mysteries around his neighborhood. Recruiting the likes of Peppermint Patty, Charlie Brown, and other Peanuts favorites, the game is well-designed from both a gameplay and art perspective. If you place this in the pantheon of IP-born video games, I’m quite pleased with how well the more laid-back point-and-click format translates here, especially for younger gamers.
While there is reading which may pose a barrier to some of our youngest gamers, the voice acting in Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club helps a ton and is quite well executed. The sound in the game, in general, is better than I expected, and between how it sounds, looks, and plays, I’d put this in a category above shovelware, which some may have assumed they’d be getting with this game.
Overall, I’m a fan of GameMill Entertainment’s work for all-ages games, and this is one of their better published titles in the last few years. As you uncover a new mystery, search for clues, and interact with characters beloved for generations, anyone with an affinity toward these cartoons could have a good time playing Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club.
One major bummer to me is how shallow and forced the minigames feel, which should be fun ways to break up the clue-searching periods of the game. Whether it’s baseball or, of course, kicking a football, the minigame portions of Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club almost feel more like a sequence breaker than a nice addition to the overall experience.
I do think they’re designed with younger gamers in mind, which I can fully accept, but I can’t imagine kids would love how unfun these are to play. Still, it is a nice feature to have a bit of variety in gameplay for this title. I just wish it were better executed.
The main sequences of Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club, where you’re hunting for clues, involve a lot of walking around, backtracking, and exploring the neighborhood. I think there were moments where I was less curious about where the story was heading and more interested in seeing one mystery through to the end, so I could move on to something a bit more riveting, but it was cozy throughout.
I think if a non-starter for you is simplicity for the sake of just spending time enjoying characters many have grown up with, then you’re probably not considering picking up Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club in the first place. For the rest of us, however, I think this is a fun, laid-back adventure.
For children who are growing up with Snoopy and his friends or adults who have a hard time remembering when they weren’t aware of the Peanuts gang, this is going to catch their eyes. I’d say Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is well worth your time and money if you’re a cozy-oriented gamer, less focused on some high-throttle experience, and more looking to chill out and just interact with some iconic characters.
You won’t necessarily feel challenged at any point with these puzzles as an adult, but that’s not the point. Trade in your expectations for difficulty for a no-stakes way to unwind and be Snoopy, and you’ll enjoy seeing this Mystery Club through its exciting adventures. Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is available now for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Let us know in the comments if you have Snoopy nostalgia and plan to check this title out!
