The long-awaited return of skate. is undoubtedly a hot topic of debate among longtime fans and newcomers. I don’t want to get into a whole discussion on the game, and I haven’t reviewed it or even done a significant impressions piece, but I am playing it a lot. I’m also enjoying it a lot. The reluctance to review the game at this stage has been that we really don’t know what the season-style experience will be, but we’re finally seeing a glimpse into the live-service game’s future. Here’s everything we know about skate. season 1 explained!
In its new format, skate. will run as a live-service game that utilizes seasons to launch new major content updates and unlockable items. Season 1 began yesterday, October 7, 2025, and runs through December 2. EA has indicated that this will be shorter than typical seasons, but there’s still plenty to do. The big headline is Skate-o-Ween, the in-game Halloween celebration that brings new costumes as well as a fall-themed festival called the 7-Ply Maple Harvest.
Themed cosmetics and challenges will allow players to earn Tix, the in-game currency, to unlock loot boxes that let players add new items to their inventory. Both Skate-o-Ween and the 7-Ply Maple Harvest will run consecutively. Skate-O-Ween runs from Oct. 21 – Nov. 11, with the 7-Ply Maple Harvest dominating the city from Nov. 18 – Dec. 2. With over 40 new challenges and seasonal tasks related to the events, it looks like the game is getting a healthy boost to its offerings.
Of course, the season model works for live-service games because you need to purchase a pass to unlock all available items. There is a free tier, but the Season 1 skate.Pass will cost 1000 SVB, the microtransaction currency, which equates to $9.99 USD. If you picked up the Founder’s Pack or Founder’s Deluxe Pack when the game launched, Season 1 is included with the purchase of the skate.Pass, you’ll earn back 400 SVB toward in-game gear or the purchase of the next skate.Pass. Across 82 tiers of content, 38 standard and 44 premium, players will add quite a few options to their wardrobe and skateboard accessories.
Along with the game content, 21 new songs are coming in the new season, mostly focused on 90s vibes, according to the company. You can read the full blog on Season 1 of skate. as well as a few of the songs getting added to the playlist here. I’m curious, though, are you enjoying skate.? Or just pretending it doesn’t exist?
