We’re here again, folks. Another Gamescom, another Geoff Keighley Opening Night Live showcase. There are a few heavy hitters slated to show up this time, such as Black Ops 7, World of Warcraft Midnight, Resident Evil: Requiem, and a few more. Let’s see how this showcase goes, shall we?

Starting with the Pre-show we’ve got a reveal with an old pal… Bubsy? First of all, where are his pants? Anyway, Bubsy is back in Bubsy 4D, a new platformer from Atari and Fabraz, developer of Demon Turf! Honestly, it looks pretty chill and fun, and you can even unlock the forbidden knowledge (a costume from Bubsy 3D). You can wishlist it now across PC and all major console platforms.

The next announcement was for a Battlestar Galactica game. Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a real-time strategy survival game coming in early 2026 for PC. I’m not exactly a Battlestar Galactica guy, but it is interesting at least.

Nightdive Studios popped up for a segment! They have remastered Outlaws, a Doom-like crafted by LucasArts. Why did every shot in that trailer that the player made miss? Your guess is as good as mine. Anyway, Outlaws Remastered will be coming sometime in the future for PC and all major consoles. It contains a few extra missions as well, and you can pre-order it now.

Following Outlaws Remastered, we have a new trailer for what I can only describe as a skateboarding game, but you’re a bus in Japan. Except there are Zord-like battles, Sonic-esque platforming, and so much more that I’m a little baffled, but also excited. Check out DenshaAttack! in 2026 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Next (killing the momentum of the trailers) was an interview with Lee Petty, creative director of Double Fine’s new game, Keeper. Keeper is a game about a lighthouse that awakens after a long time, waking up and going on a journey with their bird companion. I won’t delve too deeply into this interview, but you can watch it (linked above) for all the details. It looks really interesting, and Double Fine’s work is always awesome. Keeper is being released on October 17th, 2025.

Another trailer followed the interview. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is a new Beat ’em up coming to all major platforms. Play as He-Man and his allies as you take on the dark forces of Skeletor, Evil Lyn, and more. Fight for Eternia as Dragon Pearl of Destruction is coming to all major consoles soon.

A new trailer for Absolum took the pre-show stage next. This trailer showcased gameplay amid animated scenes that look crisp and interesting. I think the trailer showed off new characters too, but I can’t be sure on that. Absolum is releasing on October 9th. Beat ’em up fans are really getting fed lately.

The next trailer was for Long Gone, a narrative adventure in a zombie apocalypse. Rummage through ruins, uncover notes detailing the past, solve point-and-click-esque puzzles, and survive the zombie apocalypse. There’s no release date yet, but you can wishlist it now on Steam.

Next up was a world premiere for the next game from the creators of Ghostrunner. Valor Mortis is a first-person shooter/sword-combat Souls-like set in an alternate history where you are a soldier serving Napoleon. You rise from the dead to discover the truth behind a mysterious plague and the reason for your resurrection. Valor Mortis is coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, though we don’t have a release date (or window) yet.

The next premiere was for a game by Kepler Interactive. PVKK is a game where you control an air defense cannon and defend against an interplanetary invasion. Of course, there’s also autocratic regime elements in the vein of Papers, Please, so perhaps this is more along the lines of…Planets, Please? You can wishlist PVKK on Steam now.

Now we dive into the spooky side of things, with Routine, a Sci-fi horror game that looks pretty intense. With atmospheric audio and a camera-like tool, you’ll investigate the lunar base you’re on to figure out what happened prior to your arrival. Routine is coming to PC and Xbox in late 2025.

The next trailer really caught my attention. Developed by Aurogon Shanghai, Swords of Legends puts you in the role of a man sent back after his death to collect the souls of others. It seems to be a Souls-like, but it looks incredible. No word on a release window yet, or platforms.

Drivers will enjoy the next trailer. The open road awaits in Road Kings, a trucker sim where you slowly build your reputation driving a semi truck across the United States. Road Kings is coming to PC and consoles in 2026.

The last trailer for the pre-show is for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. Pac-Man is coming to Sonic Racing: Crossworlds as a playable racer, and Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac. Crossworlds is releasing on September 25th, while Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac will be released on September 26th. The Sonic DLC will be coming to Pac-Man World 2 in late 2025, while Pac-Man will be coming to Crossworlds in Early 2026.

With the Pre-Show out of the way, let’s start the announcements for Gamescom proper. Team Cherry announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released this year. They released a demo at Gamescom and will be making an announcement on Thursday on their YouTube channel. Hopefully, this will be a release date.

After that strong start, we move to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Thankfully, we’re starting early with this – I’d rather get it out of the way. The trailer actually looks interesting, with a 2035 setting and shockingly realistic visuals. There also seems to be a simulation-esque plot involved, across a variety of gorgeous locales.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will be released on November 14th. You can get the Reznov Challenge Pack if you pre-order now, and it seems like there are some isometric levels involved? Interesting. The developers have said they are pulling threads from Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. However, they also commented that Black Ops 7 is a “beast of its own.”

They dug deep into the plot, detailing characters such as David Mason and the returning villain Raul Menendez, as well as the new faction The Guild, run by Emma Kagan. Black Ops 7 will be playable solo, or in co-op up to 4 players. The developers also announced that they’ll be detailing more during their next Call of Duty Next showcase on September 30th, including Multiplayer and Zombies modes. To cap it off, they did a behind-the-scenes look at the game, even revealing hints at a PvE endgame mode.

The first world premiere trailer at the main event was for Lords of the Fallen II, which is technically Lords of the Fallen 3, I think? The trailer is grisly and interesting, You can wishlist it now on Epic for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, though it is coming out sometime next year in 2026.

After that interesting and awesome trailer, we have a trailer for the anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Sekiro: No Defeat is the anime adaptation, coming exclusively to Crunchyroll. It’s interesting, since most From Software games have multiple endings. I’m curious about what ending they’ll make canon for this anime adaptation.

Lego Batman is back! After a while in his cave, Batman returns to our consoles in Lego form with Legacy of the Dark Knight. This one seems to be a more cinematic, single-player-focused tale. It also seems to incorporate elements from a variety of Batman media, from Christopher Nolan’s version of The Joker to the Selina Kyle from the most recent film, The Batman. You can wishlist Legacy of the Dark Knight now on PC and all major consoles.

The next world premiere was a long-awaited sequel. That’s right, Warhammer 40k fans rejoice! Warhammer 40k Dawn of War IV is coming to PC in 2026. I’m not a Warhammer guy, but the trailer was pretty awesome.

The Monster Hunter Wilds team popped up to announce a crossover event with Final Fantasy XIV! You’ll get your own chocobo, see cactuars, and hunt the Omega Planetes in this upcoming crossover update coming in Late September.

On the Final Fantasy XIV side of things, a trailer showcased content for its end of the crossover. Players can look forward to creatures (such as the Palico) coming to FFXIV, as well as new areas and bosses from Wilds. The FFXIV side of things will launch in Early October.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword returned to the stage with a new trailer. This new entry in the franchise seems to somewhat return to its original survival horror/action hybrid roots. We’ll have to wait until 2026 to know for sure when it releases on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Following Onimusha was a trailer for Arknights: Endfield, coming to PlayStation, PC, and mobile devices. The trailer was cinematic and Death Stranding-esque, but I don’t have time for another Live-Service game.

Next, we drift into a Paradox Interactive announcement. You can pre-purchase Europa Universalis V, though we don’t know when it will be released just yet. It looks good, as most 4X strategy titles do. I need more gameplay to be sold, though.

Then Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion took the stage ahead of its release next month. You can download the demo now, though the game is released on September 5th, 2025. It looks interesting, and the storyline seems to be suitably filled with intrigue.

Do you like FPS games with a side of weird, surreal intrigue? Voidbreaker might be up your alley. It is available now on PC and Game Pass. The trailer was pretty interesting.

The second season of Amazon Prime’s Fallout was the focus of the next segment. This next season is headed to New Vegas, and this segment went a bit further into what fans can expect from it. They also dropped a teaser trailer ahead of Season 2’s December 17th release.

The next segment was for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s expansion, The Order of Giants, teased in the secret ending of the game. The Order of Giants expansion is being released on September 4th, 2025, in just a few weeks! They also announced that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

Deadpool showed up again with a new trailer for Deadpool VR. The trailer showcased villains such as Mojo, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, Mephisto, and more. Deadpool VR is coming on November 18th, 2025 to Meta Quest VR systems.

Another world premiere trailer was next, showing off World of Tanks 2.0. The game will be released on September 1st in APAC regions and September 3rd in EU and NA regions. This one was a little bland, but some folks will enjoy it.

The next segment was for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, which revealed its first gameplay trailer. Toxic Commando will be released in early 2026 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

The next reveal was from Ron Gilbert, the creator of Monkey Island. Death By Scrolling is a Roguelike “vertical scrolling RPG set in Purgatory”. After the words Roguelike and RPG hit my ears, I was immediately interested. You’ll battle waves of enemies, hoard gold, and “do everything you can to stay one step ahead of the Grim Reaper herself.” You can wishlist Death By Scrolling now. I think it gives a whole new meaning to Doom-scrolling, am I right?

Another exciting reveal came from the studio behind Disco Elysium, which has announced its latest CRPG. Zero Parades is ZA/UM’s latest project and is an espionage thriller where “every failure is the start of a new path.”

The next trailer is for Neverness to Everness, a Cyberpunk-esque game with Zenless Zone Zero vibes. You can pre-register now for PC, Mobile, and PlayStation 5.

Moving along, we have an emotional rhythm game called Unbeatable, coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. Unbeatable will be released on November 6th, 2025.

After a brief commercial break, we dug into the next segment, a gorgeous acoustic performance from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I love the game’s soundtrack, so hearing “Alicia” performed was a nice break in the proverbial action.

Then we move directly into a trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4, which looks as bloody and wonderful as ever. With Platinum Games at the helm this time, alongside Koei Tecmo, I am incredibly excited to play Ryu’s next adventure. There also seems to be a new playable character named Yakumo, who fights like an absolute whirlwind. Ninja Gaiden 4 will be released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on October 21st, 2025.

Next up was Cinder City, an MMO shooter from NCSoft. This Narrative-driven Shooter blends with a massive open world, set in a post-apocalyptic South Korea. The gameplay doesn’t look bad, but I’m not super excited either. Cinder City will be released on PC at some point.

NCSoft also announced Time Takers, a competitive team-based survival shooter. Play as characters from across the time-stream (including a monkey), in a fight where time is the currency and your very survival is at stake. There is a Steam Playtest coming soon, but no official date was revealed.

After the NCSoft segment came a segment for Silent Hill f, coming September 25th, 2025. This new gameplay trailer introduced a mysterious new character who seems to know more about Hinako’s past, and possibly her future. As this is a Silent Hill game, who knows what will happen? We don’t have long to wait, though.

The next segment was a trailer for Jyamma Games’ La Divina Commedia. Despite having a “Wishlist Now” part on the trailer, I couldn’t find it on Steam at the time of writing. Regardless, it looks interesting.

Cronos: The New Dawn was next on the docket, showcasing a brand-new trailer. Cronos: The New Dawn will be released on September 5th to all major platforms, and it looks very interesting. It has Dead Space meets Returnal vibes, and I’m kind of here for it.

The Outer Worlds 2 got a new trailer in the next segment. The new trailer showcased the various companions that will be joining you on your quest, and they all look relatively diverse and interesting. Sadly, there is no romance in The Outer Worlds 2, as dictated by the trailer. The Outer Worlds 2 will be released on October 29th.

Another surprise was a free DLC for Inzoi, called Inzoi: Island Getaway. Seems like islands are all the rage with life sims, eh? Regardless, this new DLC is available now and offers vacation opportunities, farming bananas, and more.

Next was a short trailer for another anime character-shooter called Fate Trigger. I’m a little “meh” on this one if I’m honest. Fate Trigger will go into Early Access in Q1 of 2026.

There was also a short trailer for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2. This highly anticipated vampiric RPG will be released on October 21st, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

After another commercial break, we slid right into another segment. Despite being in Early Access already, Enshrouded came to Gamescom and revealed its latest update. Enshrouded: Wake of the Water is coming in October 2025, offering a sea of new content.

Age of Empires IV is coming to PlayStation for the very first time! Controller optimization, the new Dynasties of the East expansion, and a variety of other great features are coming to PlayStation 5. Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition launches on PS5 on November 4th, 2025.

A quick trailer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s Legacy of the Forge DLC came next. The DLC will arrive on September 9th and is included in the expansion pass. You’ll be able to set up your own smithy and grow from a small one to a renowned one as you progress through this second-story expansion.

My favorite Lamb has returned! Cult of the Lamb took the stage with a brand-new expansion called Woolhaven! It seems that we are not the last lamb. This new expansion will include a new winter-y environment, new weapons, enemies, and a lot more! Woolhaven will be released in Early 2026.

Now, David gets to be excited for a minute, with World of Warcraft: Midnight taking the stage. Blizzard released a new cinematic, as well as the new “Housing” feature. As usual, Blizzard’s cinematics are wonderful, so I can see why fans are hyped for the new expansion that continues the Worldsoul Saga. World of Warcraft Midnight is coming in 2026.

Can we stop with the Tactical shooters? Project Spectrum is a horror PvPvE shooter where you “battle monsters, other players, and your own sanity”. The trailer was interesting, and the concept is good. However, I can’t help but wonder how long it’ll be live before it gets shuttered like so many other live-service or tactical shooter titles. Project Spectrum will be released at some point in the future.

The next segment was a trailer for Heat, a multiplayer shooter where you play in a tank or possibly an aircraft. Heat is coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, but I have to wonder. Did Wargames (the developer) just hire a bunch of people who love tanks? Is that all they can do?

Ghost of Yotei took the stage next, taking us away from shooters and into its beautiful world. Ghost of Yotei will be released on October 2nd 2025. In 2026, owners of the game will receive the Ghost of Yotei: Legends DLC, which was also announced during the segment. Legends is a co-op multiplayer DLC with a supernatural story and survival missions. I’m sure we’ll get more details soon.

Resident Evil: Requiem finally took the stage with the next segment, with a release date for February 27th, 2026. The trailer showcased a small bit of gameplay with the protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and her mother. Though something tells me that Grace’s mom is involved in whatever the plot of Requiem will be.

The last trailer was a world premiere for the next game from Game Science, developer of Black Myth: Wukong. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is their next project, starring Zhong Kui, the ghost catching god that wanders between Hell and Earth. The short glimpse of footage they showed was gorgeous, and I’m interested in seeing how it develops. No release date, platforms, or anything have been announced for Zhong Kui, though.

That’s it for Opening Night Live. Let us know what you are most excited about in the comments! Though personally, I have a lot of thoughts. This was a fairly solid showcase overall, but Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight stole the show for me.
