I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I will snort any form of the “[genre] Shop Simulator” game like it is a mystery powder in an ’80s nightclub bathroom. There are so many different ways you can take that whole thing, from greengrocers to Warhammer 40K. I love it and might have just gotten the announcement of the latter over the weekend. Coming from French developers Ludogram and co-developer/publisher Knight Fever Games, Tabletop Game Shop Simulator was revealed as part of the Games Made in France presentation. We spoke about that recently with PROHIBEAST.

Originally given a reveal trailer back on May 2nd, the reveal late on Friday was that Tabletop Game Shop Sim will be coming to PC later this year. This is what the press release had to say: “Tabletop Game Shop Sim, the wargame miniature store simulator from developer Knight Fever Games, opens for business later this year on PC via Steam, as revealed during the Games Made in France event.

Manage a budding tabletop store from the ground up. Design the store’s layout, set reasonable prices (resellers beware!), and create a welcoming atmosphere to attract a loyal customer base. Hire fellow board game aficionados as staff, complete transactions, and handle restocks as inventory flies off the shelf. Ensure the shop stays afloat by effectively managing finances and navigating the ever-murky waters of supply and demand.

Place the owner’s tabletop prowess on full display and collect prized miniatures. Open mystery packs to secure rare parts, then assemble and paint them to increase their value. Choose to sell figures for profit or add them to a growing collection. Master painting skills to create one-of-a-kind figures to impress customers and raise the store’s reputation.

Become a staple of the board gaming community and expand the store over time. Host epic game nights and compete against customers, celebrate with exclusive product launches, and attract high-profile customers. As it reaches closing time, strive for success and bigger opportunities on a quest to become the largest tabletop shop in town.”

Already I’m sold. A painting mini-game? Give it to me, and give it to me now! Of course, “now” isn’t exactly realistic and we don’t have a firm release window beyond “later this year,” but it is certainly one that made me run to the Steam page to wishlist the game straightaway. Published and co-developed (according to Steam) by fairly new studio Knight Fever Games, studio President and co-founder Franck Delfortrie actually has some history with Warhammer, being co-Lead Game Designer on Warhammer: Chaosbane.

Studio co-founder and CEO of Knight Fever Games, Adrien Britta, said of Tabletop Games Shop Simulator, “As an avid Miniature Wargame enthusiast, I’ve always wanted to create a game that captures that feeling. I can’t wait to see everyone open their own tabletop shops, create memories with customers, and craft a successful business from such a beloved hobby.”

It goes almost without saying that, despite there being a Warhammer shop about a mile away from me, I’m not the biggest fan of the tabletop game space. I’m far too impatient. However, I do love the style and the enthusiasm that people have. I wish I could be as patient and calm enough to slowly paint tiny figures I’m sure the cats will knock over instantly. Yet a game like Tabletop Game Shop Simulator is right up my alley, and I can’t wait to basically be playing the same game as BiM Sim but with faux-Warhammer figures.
