Strap in for this one, folks. While browsing through the Steam Next Fest, I came across what I thought was an interesting little RPG called “The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of all Time”. It looked like an interesting mystery classic RPG with a twist. After playing the demo, I realize that it is so much more.
The Demo of The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of all Time allows you to play a small subsection of what is to be the final game. The game itself puts you in an Inscryption-esque type of situation where you have access to both the “Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of all Time” (the game itself) and an outer world.

By swapping through both, collecting information to progress, you begin to solve a central mystery. Why was this (nonexistent) RPG lost to time? What happened to the creators of the remake? What is going on with characters that you are piecing together from small bits of gameplay? All of these questions (hopefully) are set to be answered.
The fun part about this is that it takes inspiration from both Inscryption, and Tunic. You’ll collect pieces of the Instruction Manual, which gives you answers to solve various parts of the game. Additionally, there are puzzles outside of the game that require knowledge from within the game world to progress. I can’t say too much about the game itself, but I can easily see this becoming a hit once it releases.

The mix of meta-game and the intrigue of the game itself caught my attention, and the Demo is pretty intriguing. The music is well done, and the lore/story is both enjoyable, intriguing, and a little menacing. I have a feeling that there is going to be a deeply emotional tale at the center of this, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves.
If you’re interested in RPGs, mysteries, puzzles, etc. Check out the demo for The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of all Time. I would also suggest keeping an eye on the game itself. It is scheduled to be released in Q1 of 2026, so we don’t really have that much longer to wait.
