I am a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Even though I’m not a big fan of 2D (or in this case 2.5D? I think) Fighters, Avatar Legends has had me interested. Over the weekend at EVO, Paramount Games announced the upcoming Closed Beta for Avatar Legends.

In cooperation with Avatar Studios, Paramount Games announced that closed beta registrations are open for the July 2nd Closed beta of Avatar Legends. In addition, they also revealed that global pre-orders are now open as well. Here is what the press release says about everything announced and revealed.

“Gameplay Group International and Paramount Games Studio, in collaboration with Avatar Studios, revealed at EVO today that global pre-orders are now available for AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game. Players can pre-order their digital copy directly from the Microsoft Store and PlayStation®Store, while Steam players can pre-purchase the game.

Bringing the rich worlds of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra to life, AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game offers dynamic combat and expressive bending mechanics built for both fighting game veterans and casual fans alike. Master the elements with a star-studded roster of legendary characters in an experience that seamlessly blends high-stakes fighting strategy with fast, accessible action.

Players who pre-order will receive access to the closed beta running from July 2-5, gold color variants for Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph[,] and Sokka, as well as the Samurai Appa support character skin. Players who purchase or pre-order the Deluxe Edition will also receive a digital art book, music soundtrack, unique HUDs and the Year 1 Pass, which includes Bolin, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Uncle Iroh[,] and an additional character to be decided through a limited-time community vote.

The limited-time community vote will be open exclusively to fans who pre-order AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game. Beginning in late summer, eligible players will be able to vote between five fan-favorite potential characters to join the roster: Amon, Kuriva, Bumi, Asami[,] or Tenzin.

The Standard Edition of AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game is set to launch July 23 for $29.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™, and PC via Steam, with full cross-play support available at launch. The physical edition, published by PM Studios, arrives later this year alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version, with both Standard and Deluxe Editions available for collectors and fans.”

As an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, I hope that Avatar Legends is successful enough to bring about even more ATLA games. The gameplay looks smooth and interesting, and if EVO is showing it off, then clearly there’s something special here. Let us know which of the fan-favorites you’d like to see in the comments.
