Doomsday Diner, huh? Isn’t that the television show with that spiky-haired fellow who travels to all sorts of restaurants and is known for fantasizing about being in “Flavortown?” Wait, no, this game sounds much better than that. Developer Space Rock Games, alongside their publishing partner UNIKAT Label, have unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming joint venture, Doomsday Diner. Doomsday Diner is part of the “ANZ Indiefest” event that’s currently happening on Steam, celebrating games made in Australia and New Zealand. Here is what a press release has to say about Doomsday Diner in light of its new trailer:

If Fallout and Cooking Simulator had a chaotic, unhinged[,] ADHD-fueled love child out of wedlock, it would be Doomsday Diner. Doomsday Diner is set in a wasteland where hot dogs are cheap and life is cheaper. Players run the counter at humanity’s last diner, juggling increasingly unhinged orders, a diner that won’t stay clean, and a clientele that occasionally tries to rob the place. Between shifts, they can upgrade their cooking gear, the diner itself, and whatever they’re using to keep the raiders out. It’s cooking, combat, cleaning, and chaos, often at the same time.” Alright, Doomsday Diner, you’ve certainly got my attention!

Doomsday Diner “is all about orders piling up, raiders shooting across the diner’s floor, hot dog combinations being thrown around the kitchen, and somehow, against all odds, the sausages still getting made.” Doomsday Diner doesn’t have a concrete release window or any price information listed at the time of writing, though Space Rock Games is planning to launch “sometime this year.” There’s also no word as to whether Doomsday Diner will be coming to any platforms other than Steam, but if you’re interested, you can wishlist Doomsday Diner on Steam now and check out its playable demo while you wait.

David Sanders is, at his core, a man who's just trying to get through his game backlog before the heat death of the universe, and yet can't seem to stop adding to said game backlog. He greatly enjoys many different varieties of games, particularly several notable RPGs and turn-based strategy titles. When he's not helping to build or plan computers for friends, he can usually be found gaming on his personal machine or listening to an audiobook to unwind.
