Cue the Game of Thrones theme being played on repeat for umpteen hours now. Earlier this year, I did a preview on Sun and Serpent’s wonderful creative and management crafting RPG, Bladesong, and I won’t mince words – I adore it. I believe I’ve said it before, but I like an RPG where I am just a bloke (or blokette) doing a job. Ya know, not exactly the person the whole world is destined to be saved by from birth. Now, more of the story for Bladesong adds to your tale as a simple swordsmith in Deep Space Eren Keep with Chapter 2, “The Shattered Mask.”

Available now via Steam and Epic, the latest update adds two new factions, new items, and new gameplay features to Bladesong. Here is what the press release said of the update:

Discover the next thrilling chapter of a gripping fantasy RPG and continue your legacy as a legendary swordsmith with Bladesong Chapter 2: The Shattered Mask, the first major content update for the hit Early Access swordmaking sim, available today as a free update on Steam and Epic Games Store.

After the events of Chapter 1, Eren Keep is a city on edge. The Masked King’s grip tightens. The Marshal hunts for traitors. And beneath it all, a resistance is taking shape.

In Chapter 2: The Shattered Mask, discover a brand-new story chapter that introduces two new factions, the Anointed and the Houndsburg League, as the smith is forced to take desperate measures to investigate the fate of the missing orphans and assist a fragile alliance. Jump into expanded gameplay with a new type of challenge – Replication Commissions – and discover new sword parts, permanent forge upgrades[,] and the brand-new showroom to make your home.

Alongside this update is a trailer showcasing all the update’s latest features before you jump in and explore Eran Keep for yourself. Personally, I’m really excited about the replication part, which (more or less) puts a level of constraints on freedom you need to stop yourself from tinkering too much with creative pieces. It is a nice detail that I think is a touch more realistic in terms of customer orders.

As noted above, Bladesong is available on the Epic Games Store and Steam right now, with the update releasing yesterday, so you can download it now. Still in early access, of course, there is no word just yet exactly when Bladesong will be launching into its 1.0 release, though we do have a tentative “2027” noted on the Steam store page. Either way, I’m excited to see more and delve deeper into the mysterious storylines of Eran Keep and create awesome swords.
