Roguelike Minesweeper Game Coming in May

Minesweeper is likely one of the first computer games you played if you had a computer in the 1990s. Along with things like Solitaire, FreeCell, and 3D Pinball for Windows – Space Cadet, a lot of time was spent on these pack-in games for Windows. Minesweeper is likely one that, if you’re like me, you failed to fully understand as a kid but very much appreciate as an adult. The joys of strategy and side-stepping virtual mines are coming back in 2026 thanks to a roguelike Minesweeper-inspired game that releases this May. Here’s what we know.

Publisher Yogscast Games and indie developer Longshot Studio have set a date for the release of an upcoming retro puzzle roguelike, Infinity Sweeper. Inspired by the beloved title Minesweeper, players can test their logic and instinct when the game launches on Steam on May 7th. A demo is live now on Steam for players to test before the launch next month. The player navigates mines, attempting to avoid destruction and the loss of three lives in this never-ending chain of Minesweeper-inspired action.

Procedurally-generated grids test the player, and after clearing a board, you choose from a selection of modifiers and permanent upgrades to benefit your run. Some modifiers change what appears on the board, or even present new traps to navigate. Plus, you’ll encounter a boss battle every four stages, turning the standard experience of this long-time PC gaming favorite into a test of strategy.

Infinity Sweeper will be available on the Steam storefront on May 7th. Wishlist the game for a reminder when it launches.
