It always helps to lift my spirits when I unexpectedly find good news in my email. You might remember I wrote a preview of a city-building god game by the name of Sintopia back in September of last year. Just a few days before that article was published, I also wrote about an announcement made by Sintopia’s developers, Piraknights Games. Piraknights Games, alongside publisher Team17, had decided to delay Sintopia’s planned launch into Steam Early Access because of the metaphorical nuke that was the shadow-dropped Hollow Knight: Silksong. Now, however, Piraknights Games has revealed that Sintopia is nearly ready for release.

Piraknights Games has announced that Sintopia will launch on PC via Steam on April 16th, 2026. At the time of writing, its Steam Store page doesn’t say anything about Sintopia launching in Early Access, which I hope is a sign that it’s fully developed and has no need for Early Access. Rather frustratingly, Sintopia’s Steam Store page also doesn’t currently say anything about the game’s price, though it does rather prominently mention an optional deluxe edition that includes a digital art book and soundtrack. I’m displeased that the deluxe edition is promoted without any accompanying idea of how much it’ll cost, but I digress.

Here’s what the official press release has to say about Sintopia: “Sintopia is a mix of builder and God game, with an asymmetrical loop and you are the freshly promoted middle manager of Hell Incorporated, [b]ut the world of Sintopia is full of dangers, above and below. Your job is simple: ‘re-educate’ sinners as the Administrator, meaning you must choose whether to help the chickpea nation of Humus folk who live in the Overworld and face the consequences of your actions or inactions if you decide not to.”

Considering I enjoyed previewing Sintopia so much, I’m excited to play the full version once it’s out. Sintopia releases on April 16th for PC via the Steam Store.

David Sanders is, at his core, a man who's just trying to get through his game backlog before the heat death of the universe, and yet can't seem to stop adding to said game backlog. He greatly enjoys many different varieties of games, particularly several notable RPGs and turn-based strategy titles. When he's not helping to build or plan computers for friends, he can usually be found gaming on his personal machine or listening to an audiobook to unwind.
